Spaniard Sanchez has settled well in Welly

"I'm enjoying it here, especially the lifestyle," says Sanchez, who is sharing a house with team-mates Jimmy Downey and Niko Tsattalios. "I enjoyed Scotland too but it was hard. In winter, you couldn't do anything in the afternoon; at 3pm, it was dark."

Now he lives like a Kiwi, even down to chipping in with Downey and Tsattalios to buy a van together for the princely sum of $2000. It can comfortably seat seven and often arrives at practice with five or six members of the team inside.

"It is pretty cool and players are always asking us for a lift to training," says Sanchez. "There is lots of banter and jokes, though the boys are always disappointed with my Spanish music:.

Love the chap, think he needs to be retained, but I'm not angry that he hasnt been yet. Think he's a great bloke, but he hasnt played that many games for us. Nevertheless, i think he needs to be put on another 2 year deal -I feel we have not seen the best of Sanchez yet

I think there are issues around changes to the number of import slots that haven't yet been confirmed. If that is the case I can understand waiting.

Surely Ricki and Welnix can see the value he adds and will sign him up again. Despite just resigning Iffy it's still pretty early to be talking resigning. Not even half way through the season yet! But, Ricki - Sign him!

Dani Sanchez is the best dead ball/free kicktaker I have ever seen in a Phoenix strip.

His second half free kick in Morwell that hit the post, and his effort against the glory that went just wide are two free kicks that I am VERY excited to see being taken by us.

He will score crucial goals from us from free kicks.

Sign him.

Neither were as good as Daniel's one that hit the post against the Jets. But yeah, it is exciting to see a Phoenix player hit dead balls like that, makes me think maybe he should be taking some corners. Although he can also hit them from outside the box, so maybe that's his best position in corners. Would like to see Ifill take a couple of corners.

He scored a brilliant volley against Team Wellington in a pre season warm up game. Got two goals in that game also.

What is his injury and how much longer is he out for? With no preseason and Fenton impressing, he might struggle to get back into the game day squad.
