Daniel didn't get enough game time this season. And than last game fo season against melbourne when we were 1-0 down and needed a goal he gets taken off! He's a creative, attacking player that can score goals. leave him on cause we needed those players on the  pitch.
They wanted a creative player(so bought deigo)! What about Daniel? he's a creative player. If you played him this season and didn't leave it to the 4th to last game of the season you would've seen daniel's creativity.

come on daniel...next seasons yours!

Whenever he has played this season hes been rubbish. Drifts in and out of games too much. Is best coming off the bench as something of an impact player.

Yea but thats cause he hasnt had enough game time....his confidence is low. at least should've tried him when we were played crap and need more goals

I see him falling for Felipe-itis.  Great for the first few rounds, then teams work him out.  He lacks a few things, real physicality, aerial strength and genuine pace.  And it seems his first touch is starting to dessert him too.  It's a pity, because the highlights I saw of him before he became a 'Nix player were awesome.

Thats not an excuse.
His confidence is pretty high. He loves playing for the phoenix.
Its all about how well you impress in past performances and trainings.
You cant blame a lack of game time for it. He only has himself to blame.

Wasn't he injured or had niggling injuries that kept him from playing a full 90mins
i remember that being an excuse as to his lack of game time earlier in the season

Yeah im only rubbish because i lack gametime for the nix  i could be a star if only ricki randomly gave me an undeserved callup and run in the team

He was good for the entire last season. IMO he has just been struggling with too many niggling injuries. He was good against Adelaide.

Daniel has had what?.. 3 or four starts now.
Thats a pretty good confidence booster if you ask me.
Daniel in my opinion just plays for the crowd too much.
Like waving his hands in the air to get the crowd going.. Concentrate on the game!

The hype that comes with a brazilian player is just stupid. If anyone else in the team did what he did I think we would be sick of them.

He was good against Adelaide though, probably one of his better games this season.

Daniel playing for nz?
Alot of work to be done first.

He is a quality player.. He was one of our best players last season (if not the best).. Agreed, he had an average season this year - every player has an off season.. He is still a good player...

THere's no doubt he has skill and a knack for delivering corners. But I cringe when he challenges for headers and back heals unnecessarily. I thought he was a useful impact play from the bench, but Ricki could have intro'd him earlier on those occassions. He needs to work on being for aggressive in running at defenders, making runs off the ball and his work rate could be turned up a notch. Homework for the off season. Good to have in the squad though.

Or.. Maybe you can find some other fans who are caught up in the Daniel hype and are too excited by him to notice him f**k up. (Not against Adelaide though)
f**k.. I promised myself not to voice my opinions about daniel.

lets face it the style of football we played this season does not suit someone like Daniel. Grinding it out, passing back and square, slow build ups etc. Daniel had his best game of the season against Adelaide where the game was much quicker and more fluid. He was much better in season one where we played a much more attacking style.
It horses for courses. Next season we will have Diego and a couple of pacey strikers. If Daniel rests up in the off season and gets over his injuries there is no reason why he can't play a full part in an attacking Phoenix side next season.
Some people have critisised him for waving to the crowd and show boating.....FFS do you want a team of unemotional robots.? The Phoenix are competing in the entertainment business. Kids love Daniel, he can be very entertaining. We are trying to get more people along to the ROF.

Our team shouldnt celebrate goals either.. Ludicrous behaviour!

Nothing wrong with acknowledging the crowd and getting them more into it.

Ive already said whenever he has started hes been rubbish this season...but hes had some ok games as an impact player off the bench, and people forget he was superb last season when we played more attacking football.

Next season could be a big one for him

Yep, pathetic to criticise him for that.

Yeah what is with this aisle 12 stuff? All we see is this faint little blob in the distance now . Still keeps us amused trying to spot you during halftime from aisle 22.

As mentioned earler, the style we played this year didn't suiot daniel well. Or maybe his style couldn't adapt which is why he saw very little game time.....if we can get a mix of the flar and the fight next season I think we'll all be happy!

Anyway.. What about draper, Kwasnik, Plodder etc.?
This thread just proves the daniel theory to me.

I would like him to get more game-time next season, even just to see whether he links up with Diego like he did Felipe.

Plus he's the second highest goalscorer in Phoenix history ;)

Unfortunate that he hasnt scored a goal in this regular season...

One could of course link that lack of goals to his lack of game time.

He's had enough game time for probably 1 goal min

And he would/should have taken that penalty at RoF but Smeltz took it for his golden boot tally.

Kwasnik - sh*te has never done anything for the club - even when he has started, at least Daniel has some hiostory of good play for us.

Plodder - good bench man, will do the same next year.

Draper - dunno maybe he should have seen more time, thats the problem with no youth team, he sees no game time....

 ^^ THIS.

That was a telling moment of the season for me, when Daniel was fully set up to take a penalty, and Smeltz walked up and indicated he would take it - all for the Golden Boot.

Smeltz fell apart at the end of the season because everything he was playing for was the Golden Boot. His performance in Melbourne was sh*te because he was expecting the ball, not working for it.
