you have to have faith in your players and I believe he does have something to offer at DMC once he gets the hang of the position. Can understand the desire to switch to Johnson as well, and that could be a go, he hasn't looked too bad so far, but I don't think he is going to magically solve all of our problems. Basically, stop overreacting, and no need to completely sl*g off your own players. Dodd has served the Phoenix fantastically so far and is just giving this position his best shot.

Really well said.  I do wonder what it does to the confidence of a professional football player to read some of the comments that get posted.  Terrible to worry that your own supporters aren't behind you.  Dodd was one of our best performers last year; one average game and he seems to be getting blamed for everything (OK Daniel got his own thread, equally daft).  In pre-season I for one thought he looked the part at DM and I sure want him in our squad.  There is much to be said for stability in team selection, the time to wring the changes hasn't nearly arrived.  Get behind the boys I say.

Agreed. terrible topic

If El**ch had been on this site at all I'd say he'd not be playing football. To be going after Dodd after he was tremendous last year and has had one bad game this year is bad form and shame on people who attack him.
We should drop every player on one bad game according to many here.

However, I think Doddy should have been under orders that when he got the ball he was not to pass it to anyone more than 10 metres away. Plus, and more importantly, his follow midfielders should have been under orders to come running and make themselves available whenever he got the ball.

Something for all posters making similar comments. Last season Dodd was 14th in the league with 576 passes, the most out of any Phoenix player.

It took just one game for most people to jump on the bandwagon about Dodd not playing well and should not be in the starting line up.
Where have all you people been for the last year?
What has RH been watching for the last year?
Dodd is a good RB. anywhere else and he is out of his depth.
Ricki has NEVER played him at RB. It is the only position that he can at least hold his own in this league. Why do you think the Roar did not want to extend his contract?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Yea but its a lot easier picking out a pass playing at the back when you have a lot more time to look up.

Any chance mully will be playing DM once he is fit? I seem to remeber him playing midfield in the all whites game in wgtn and i'm pretty sure he was playing CM in England as well.

That is true but people have been making comments to the effect that he cannot pass the ball at all well. I also think it is telling that none of our supposedly much stronger passers of the ball didn't get that high. It seems to me that on last season's form Dodd is a prime candidate for a DM position and one poor game (where the whole team played poorly really) does not mean he cannot play the position.

I think Mully could be an excellent chance of playing there, he can pass the ball and tackle, and I believe he did play in the middle against Vanuatu.
