I might be stating the obvious here, but couldn't most,if not all, of our players be called "other club's rejects"?

If we suddenly sign Chris Killen tomorrow, why would that happen? Cos he'd be a Celtic reject.

We either break all the rules, salary cap etc to offer all sorts of inducements to players to come here, or we sign players who are being released by other clubs.

What would the people who say "we don't want other teams hand me downs" suggest we do?

What does that say for Mulligan? *shudder*

And Count, Diegos contract expired this year anyway. I read that Adelaide 'released' them (Salley, Costanzo, Diego). I think thats more their way of saying they are not going to resign them when they come off contract at the end of the year. It would be like the Nix saying they are releasing Coveny. Well he was going anyway....

Incidentally, I wouldn't mind signing Costanzo. If Dodd goes, sign him. If Dodd stays, well.....

Don't get me started on Mulligan again, A47.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

His assist ratio isn't massively high for the stats shown before.  Does anyone have Fred's stats for his few games here at Wellington?  Fred is the type of player that is crucial to the Phoenix, good first touch, ability to nutmeg and dribble in between players and then because of that skill on the ball bring the defensive line apart as they panic opening up forward run channels for the strikers to latch onto. Technically Fred was a million miles ahead of anyone at the Phoenix in terms of control and his vision was good too.  Diego's advantage is he comes from a winning culture I guess.

Ferrante, Lia - not wanted by Melbourne and released. Diego - not re-signed. Mulligan - not wanted by anyone except us. It's different to players like Durante who were wanted by their club but decided to leave for us. IMO it's fine to bolster the squad but for first 11 places?

It's also different if they come from overseas obviously. I was mostly meaning other A-League clubs hand me downs.

You don't see anyone picking up O'Dor, Brownlie, George etc..

In a nutshell

You can line up people all day, like Ferrante, to use to back up arguments. I wouldn't use Vinny Lia cos I think he's a useful player. What about Leo Bertos? Wasn't he released by Perth at the end of his contract? Or is he a dud as well.

Get him here and see what he does. A certain Shane Semltz wasn't exactly setting the world on fire at his previous clubs. He's turned out reasonably well for us.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

We got rid of Kristian Rees and he ended up at Bling 2.

I guess that rules out Fred.

Read in the dominion post this morning saying that they're still working on getting Fred over here.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

A lot of our big signings haven't worked out for us. I'm really hoping for far better from Diego.

Diego may be injury prone but we do have a very good fitness coach so if he gets a good pre-season I think he be injury free

It will be interesting what our formation is like if we sign the 2 good strikers and Fred.

I read on wikipedia that he is Brazilian-American. So he should be fluent in english (and probably portuguese), that's a great thing. and it should help Daniel as well.

Rumour is that he turned down Sydney to join us... so someone else rates him.

I heard that Kossie wanted him (he did bring him to Adelaide after all) but the board said that they wanted to use the import spots on an unseen foreigner - not one that has been in the A-League for a few years already.

He was 7th in the US College draft.

Unseen foreigners always work well in the A-League.

Didn't Miami play a game against Adelaide or something?

I was talking about the allegation that Syndey wanted to use a spot on someone else sight unseen rather than Burrito.
