Hmmm, I haven't really noticed this guy too much on the field, but I guess I wasn't specially watching him.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Wasn't the first name I thought of when thinking about new signings but I'm happy with it. Shows the Club is aware of where our gaps are and are trying to fill them. Nice work.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Solid... we also need to consider the team he's come out of and the role he played for them...

I like... gimme more :)

When we get the strikers we need, we'll need creative midfielders will provide the ammo for them and for others. At the moment we don't have anybody who really does that. Good signing.

That was what I alluded to in the transfer speccy thread Casey... though it should mean our Marquee will be a striker

I would presume this is a fallback since Fred is probably staying over in the US.  Where does this put Daniel now, with another brazilian born attacking midfielder into the mix?

Correct me if im wrong but wont Daniel be a "Kiwi" next season therefore not an import?

No you're right, that's why I said "brazilian born".  I wasn't talking about his spot on the squad but rather his ability to get into the first team.

I think we should also be going for Fred, or a player of Fred's ability in the midfield.  Relying on one player to solve the lack of creativity and flair in the midfield and to provide the ammo for our strikers is unrealistic and risky.  This point is even more pertinent given Diego's history of injuries and the reports that he has struggled with the physicality of the A-League.

Based on the rumour that Diego was on his way to the Nix I trolled the Adelaide fans forum and the common view was that he is a very good player and the fans were disappointed they would be losing him. The only concern, with Diego, expressed was that same as the reason stated for Adelaide letting him go - he is injury prone.

He is obviously a real talent and, if fit, will add plenty to the Nix next season. As an aside I think Daniel will benefit more than most by having Diego join the team - I think you almost need to play Brazilian's (fair players) in pairs as they read each others game so well and feed off each other. I think Daniel was a better player when we had Filipe.

Congratulations to Tony and Ricki on getting a key recruitment banked so early.

Welcome to the Nix Diego.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

The odd time I have seen Diego play has looked good, must be a good signing for us, can't be too bad. I am happy

With what ive seen of him at Adelaide, I think he will perform well for us, providing good ball for whoever we get to marquee up front. I also see this as a boost to Daniel, who was always better when Felipe was around.

Whitby boy is absolutely right! Brazilians play much better in pairs. It might sounds silly but it's how it works. Besides, it will be good for Daniel as he'll have someone to speak Portuguese to. From what I see his English has improved a lot over these 2 years, but he is still not 100% confident in his language skills. I understand that - being a foreigner myself.

And only once in my 5 years at my club, have I played with another Italian on the field, and absolutely loved it. It just adds to your game. Being able to make calls that nobody understands et cetera.

Also, I agree with everyone else that we must now sign 2 strikers-with-bollocks! And as for Diego not being a high-scoring midfielder I'm not too fussed at the moment. To me a midfielder who can provide is just as good as one who can score goals. So long as we have a striker who can net them, of course....

Could be to do with a different style of football played in the ACL, i.e., less physical than the A-League, which might suit Diego better.  Just a hunch - don't know for sure (perhaps el gradapura or someone else can fill us in on the ACL).

Agree with other insightful comments above that Diego will be good for Daniel.  It would be great if we could secure a top quality Brazilian striker.  One thing about Brazilians is that they do have lots of flair and should raise the entertainment level hugely next season.

Don't rate him. Never stands out on the pitch. If an attacking mid doesn't stand out on the pitch then you know they aren't very good. Has been in the A-League for a few years now and hasn't dominated at all. If he didn't have a Brazilian name (people need to stop calling him Brazilian btw - he's American) I don't think people would rate him as much. Was good in the ACL but that is it.

Decent squad player I guess. Kind of sick of getting other clubs rejects.

Maybe i'm just a bit harsh but I don't think that signing other clubs hand me downs will ever push us forward in the league.
