I think everyone is getting a little defensive about my comments.  You're right most people in the stadium don't have the experience of supporting a footy team (having said that you've had Utd for years and the most I saw there was about 300!!),  all I was trying to point out is that there are lots of great ways to support a team and chants that motivate without making us look as if we're new to it all........
[/QUOTE]

Who are UTD???   Who are these 300 you speak of?

OK how about this for starters.....

We as a City have taken the team to our hearts which is great, maybe it's the fact that it's all new and shiny that make most people view everything to do with the club through rose tinted glasses.

One thing I refuse to do however is try and pretend that all is great, we are a poor team languishing in the bottom two of the league.  We have not real threat up front and although we create chances from a reasonable midfield we can't put anything away.  We should have been comfortabley up by 3 on Sunday, our keeper should be held accountable for at least one and defensively we are dire.  In my view, and it's only my view, anyone who sees differently either has little football experience (I suppose that could be called education) or doesn't want to face reality.

I've supported the same lower league English team for 25 year, believe me I know Sh*t football when I see it.

What goal was Moss responsible for?

Arguably - he could have done better for their second - he should of played the whistle and instead of flapping his arms around claiming some sort of infringement - if he had rushed Sasho he may have had a chance of smothering the ball

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Because we've got a creative midfield, we've also probabley missed more chances than anyone.

Prior to the CCM game, we had 92 shots. Which makes us 6th equal. Queensland had 154.

And we're coming 2nd in the shots on target (44.6%)

You're going to have to help me out here Dan'sNutz...

All the Uniteds in Wellington:

Brooklyn Northern United - they don't get 3, let alone 300.
Island Bay United - 300 fishermen?
Kapiti Coast United - 300 retirees?
Wellington United - 300 Minshuls?

They've all been around for years, but I still don't see the relevance...

Who is this fabled United that we should all have been supporting?  What have I been missing out on?

That we're a club 9 weeks in to it's first ever season after starting 2 seasons and 6 months behind every other side in the league, who play attacking football and have loyal support ?

It tells us our defence is poor.

But you said we were rubbish going forward, which we've now conclusively proved to you that we're not.

My football education might not measure up to yours, but even I can see that.

Because they are a professional football team based in Wellington.

Fair enough.

I support the Phoenix because I love the game.  I love watching it.  I love playing it.  I love being involved in it.  I'm fairly rubbish at it, but I am passionate about it.

Now, my turn.  Why don't you support the Phoenix?

I still want to know, is it Trentham United ?

We've never had 300... well, maybe at the end of our plate final defeat to Porirua.

As one who hasnt been lucky enough to experience football in other parts of the world. The ride I have been taken on by the Phoenix and the YF crowd so far has been great.
So what if the chants are not what some think they should be like the team we as supporters are a work in progress. It does seem that some think everything should be sounding great right from the get go.

Yes im novice when it comes to supporting a football team but dont question my loyalty or my passion for the team even at this early stage.Yes some things may need work but so what thats half the fun of it.

Also if i choose to applaud my team off at the end of the game then that is my choice.Unlike many i havnt walked out of the ground before the players have left pitch at any the games no matter what the result is.

I thought the recurrent "your so sh-t it's unbelievable" directed at the CCM on Sunday was a bit silly, especially as we couldn't beat them.

And I'd much rather see a competative league game than and exhibition mach with the Galaxy - However, I will be there - it will be nice to see the place full, if nothing else.

that is generally directed at one of their players, who has just smashed a ball into touch, fallen over or done something else sh*t.

I do agree that we have to stop chanting to encourage our keeper, or trying to be funny.

but asking the lads to play twice in two days is a bit harsh -  a win in the A league game is sooo important

couldn't have said it better Ballane!!!

would just add too that just coz "we're gonna  score in a minute" gets sung under certain circumstances 13,000 miles away, that doesn't mean that in Aotearoa we can't sing it any bloody time we like, i'm not interested in impressing other people with a slavish adherence to other nation's cultural expressions - I'm interested in making some noise for the Phoenix -

(though if ever the players commented specifically about our chanting i'd listen to them!) -
