I feel privileged to have been so lucky as to be living in
Wellington as the Phoenix made history this season. Having been to
all (bar two) home matches with my wife and daughter, and watched
all the games home and away, there has hardly been a dull
moment.
There has been no doubt about the commitment of the players. At
times, their play has been erratic.
The fans have been superb and the atmosphere electric.
The Dominion Post coverage by Fred Woodcock in particular has been
compelling.
I am now waiting to buy a family season ticket for August. Bring it

[quote=Greg Armitage]Congratulations to The Dominion Post for
outstanding coverage of the Phoenix season. For me the Phoenix have
been the highlight of the 2007 sporting year. I, my wife and my
mates have had a marvellous time at all the games we were able to
attend.
The stadium atmosphere has been fantastic and in itself has been an
experience for both football people and non-football people alike.
It was so enticing I introduced my eight-year-old grandchildren to
the games, and they became addicted. They, with the many other kids
encouraged to go, ensure the future is bright.
Congratulations as well to the "Fever" who were absolutely
fantastic - long may they prosper and perform.
While off the field the Phoenix have been outstanding, it's always
the on-field performances that they are going to be judged by.
The season started with the team playing a brilliant-to-watch style
of football. This was dissipated as the season wore on with
injuries, suspensions and poor results all contributing to a change
in style.
Other teams improved where we really didn't. I hope we can go back
to that great-to-watch style next year with a new squad that has a
bit more depth in class.
Finishing last was not a fair indication of the progress the team
made.
I'll do the other two later.
