Link? Or any chance of somebody posting what was in the letters.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

All letters are abridged.

I feel privileged to have been so lucky as to be living in Wellington as the Phoenix made history this season. Having been to all (bar two) home matches with my wife and daughter, and watched all the games home and away, there has hardly been a dull moment.
There has been no doubt about the commitment of the players. At times, their play has been erratic.
The fans have been superb and the atmosphere electric.
The Dominion Post coverage by Fred Woodcock in particular has been compelling.
I am now waiting to buy a family season ticket for August. Bring it on.

Congratulations to The Dominion Post for outstanding coverage of the Phoenix season. For me the Phoenix have been the highlight of the 2007 sporting year. I, my wife and my mates have had a marvellous time at all the games we were able to attend.
The stadium atmosphere has been fantastic and in itself has been an experience for both football people and non-football people alike. It was so enticing I introduced my eight-year-old grandchildren to the games, and they became addicted. They, with the many other kids encouraged to go, ensure the future is bright.
Congratulations as well to the "Fever" who were absolutely fantastic - long may they prosper and perform.
While off the field the Phoenix have been outstanding, it's always the on-field performances that they are going to be judged by.
The season started with the team playing a brilliant-to-watch style of football. This was dissipated as the season wore on with injuries, suspensions and poor results all contributing to a change in style.
Other teams improved where we really didn't. I hope we can go back to that great-to-watch style next year with a new squad that has a bit more depth in class.
Finishing last was not a fair indication of the progress the team made.

I'll do the other two later.

Cheers Yomcat. Nice work.

Sigh, another one to add to the 'must buy him a beer' list

Okay, the last two:

What a season! Who would've thought a group of supporters whose team finished last could be so happy about a season.
What have I learned during this A-League season?
1. No matter if you're a Wharfies supporter, Wests supporter, Olympic supporter, Tawa supporter or Arakura 13th grade supporter, we all have that common bond that is the Wellington Phoenix.
2. Loyalty. I'll be honest here, I love a winner. When Man U wins I'm a happy camper, when they don't I marvel at how slick Arsenal are when they are on the counter. Win or lose I've enjoyed the Phoenix and will continue to do so.
3. We ride together, we cry together.

For me, being a member of Yellow Fever has brought an enjoyment to football in New Zealand that has been sadly lacking.
In hindsight I go back to our first league game against Melbourne and just wonder if maybe our expectations weren't lifted higher than we had a right to hope for.
The main disappointment has been the lack of any noticeable improvement in our defense ... but it's too easy to hang it on the one reason.
It was disappointing to see the same mistakes made game after game, and I think maybe the midfield needs to shoulder a little more of the blame also. Although we did manage to score goals, unfortunately they largely dried up towards the end of the season.
I await the new season with much anticipation and have no doubt that we in Wellington have much to look forward to in coming seasons.

Let's not lose track of how this discussion began. Fred's thoughtful roundup of the first Nix season. (This man should never have to buy a beer again at a Yellow Fever function. Not bribery, just thanks.)

If only the rest of the local sporting "pundits" could match Fred's ability to write dispassionately, and accurately.

Early next year, when the Nix make the playoffs, watch TVOne suddenly discover the NZ football revolution happening in Wellington and spreading country wide.

The stuffed shirts in Auckland will find it hard to keep knocking/ignoring the Nix when they're winning consistently.

But don't be surprised if they try. Old habits die hard.

agree Scribbler, that Fred has done a good job, alongside the Dom itself of giving the Nix a profile and a positive one too

completely agree with your sentiments about TV1 !!

in a while you'll see a bit of an acknowledgment, by YF, of those journos and media organizations that we feel have given the Phoenix their due

Agree mostly tigers but also think many on here are a little to sensitive to any comment they might perceive to be negative in any way to our mighty Phoenix.I think if we were all honest we would admit that the off the field stuff for a 1st season is great, however where it counts on the field we have been lacking at times and that is shown by how critical many of us have been at various times.
