I think several people want to be in England for these matches - we don't have to create England at the stadium and God knows I'm English. Admittedly the drummer guys could mix it up a bit and try some Rhythm

[QUOTE=Teza]Thought the drums were great, added to the atmosphere and gave it a bit of South American flavour. Lets embrace it, (and this is no slur on UK fans) we are not at game in the UK so we don't need to act like it all the time (remember we are closer to Brasil than the UK ).
Wonder what Sheffield United fans (and the many other clubs in the UK with a percussion section) think of that?

Anyway, if the drums stop, we can always use the chairs - we don't use them for sitting on!

I was on Aisle 19 behind the goal.  I had the Fever on my right and the drums on my left.  It was all good.  It doesn't seem to me that you must have one or the other.  It was all fund and they both added to it - and I'd wager quite a lot that the last 20 mins would not have seemed so feverish (pun intended) if the drums had not been going.  I'm with Harry - it all adds to it.

The drums and chanting both added to the atmosphere.
Anything is better than the annoying music belted out at every break at a Rugby game in NZ - Although I suppose it does make up for the general silence from a rugby crowd.

I say, keep the drums - but put them at the opposite end of the ground from the fever.

The majority of the drummers left once they had done their pre-match bit. Those left must have some sort of affinity with the game.

I'm a fan of the drums myself, tho only if they work in with the context of the chanting. The drumming did seem a bit directionless at times on Sunday, but if they can work with the chanting and not against it, I reckon it will sound awesome.

I didn't find the drums disruptive to our chanting, but when we are singing in the zone you can't hear anything else - so the best source of opinion on wheher the drums worked against or for us is probably from those not in aisle 22.

very true, i think they will grow on those of us who weren't so keen at the time, i'm pretty keen now for them to be there every week.

Greek flags? Yellow Fever flags surely? Or are we all going to take our own nationalities down. Keep it about the Phoenix!

Hmmmm not enough anti-drum posts on the last page, I hated them, they just went on and on and never varied or changed. They drowned out any of the funny chants and comments that make going to the match such a laugh and I reckon they helped to kill off the chanting in the first half. Like someone said, very similar to that tooth-pulling dirge those trumpets make at the rugby or that eye-gouging cacophony of the Dambusters tune at england games.

Keep the Drums

They added to the atmosphere and are a draw card for the traditionally non-football fans.
Something completely different (along with the chats) to Rugby games.

I think they will work in time - remember it was the first game. Theres along season ahead.  Get some of them down the pub to sus out the chants. Ive been to many games in Brazil and its definitely a plus.... or put them across the other side of the stadium....Here is a chance to make our own unique atmosphere...
