Greenacre is 180cm.

Doubt it will be Juliana..

True but Tony said he's 24 and there's only 2 strikers whose contract ends now that fits the bill. And the other guy is as tall as my cat.

Targetman, targetman. Thats is overdone.
Everyone should be a target man, if they have put themself in a position to score.
Targetman to me means a tall dude who might have a chance of retreiving mindless longball hacks up field. There has been enough of that.
I much rather we sign a dwarf so we have to play some football.

I agree on one thing - everyone seems to be obsesses with a targetman having to have height. A target man has to be someone we play the ball too and is strong enough to hold the ball, or turn and take someone on. Strength and skill wins here.
Agree with Auskiwi that tall men conjurs up images of trying to hit his head. That's ok if we get plenty of crosses in the box instead of the stands this year (no fingers pointed).
If we play the ball to feet who gives a stuff about his height.

Im targetman for Rongotai and im one of the smallest in my team. You dont have to be tall, just have to be strong and quick

Thanks to Wikipedia and google translate I found this guy who is 24, striker (forward) for FC Dordrecht and his contract just ended...

Resham Sardar

Resham Sardar is a Dutch footballer of Hindu origin.
Sardar started football at SV Kijkduin which at its sixth year gescout by Feyenoord. The next sixteen years, the entire youth of the club through. In addition to all youth at Arsenal he has in all national teams to the Dutch team in the 19 years played.
In the year 2007, the transition from attacker to Jong Feyenoord FC Dordrecht. This club made on 31 August 2007 in the match FC Dordrecht - RBC his first league goal and his first goal in professional football.

Season      Club      Contests      Goals      Competition
2007/08      FC Dordrecht      29      6      Jupiler League
2008/09      FC Dordrecht      11      1      Jupiler League
Total           40      7

I'm also of Dutch descent and have been trawling for info on Google. Here's what I've found:

Sardar: Born in den Haag, Netherlands. Of Indian descent- probably his family immigrated from Suriname (former Dutch territory in South America, on northern border of Brazil, which is predominantly of Afican descent but also has a community from the Indian subcontinent).
References to Syria as place of origin on some sites are just a bad translation of "Suriname."

Former Netherlands U-17 and U-19 international:
A starter for Netherlands in Euro U-17 Finals 2002. Played in 0-2 loss to an England side
featuring Wayne Rooney. Mentions he blazed one over the bar- Go to www.uefa.com and enter "Resham Sardar"

Played for the Netherlands U-19 side in qualification for Euro U-19 Finals in 2004 in a side coached by Ruud Gullit. Google:" Netherlands vs Lithuania 24/05/04"  He started and was subbed by Ryan Babel of Liverpool fame.

Best way to find info on Sardar is to Google " www.jupilerleague.nl " then click on "Translate" which will take you to the English translation of the official Dutch Second Division website; there click on "Clubs" and then "FC Dordrecht". Finally find Sardar's name in the "Team" list on the right side, click on that and some stories about him will come up (in English translation).

Actually, this list of players shows that his club Dordrecht have some hilariously-named players which seem straight out of Monty Python (hard to believe, but these are real names!!!) e.g.:
Brian Satisfied, Rocky Siberia, Reinhard Brain Berg, Brian Pinas, Eddy Putter, Ruud Kras
Maybe this doggerel will help us remember their names:
"Rocky was satisfied with his pinas the size of a putter but to someone with a brain it would just be ruud and kras."

Are any readers familiar with the long-running football cartoon strip in UK satirical magazine "Private Eye" of the misadventures of the infamous (fictitious) "Neasden FC"? Reminds me of that too (a club with only two supporters, the notorious Sid and Doris Bonkers).

Look up Dordrecht's team list following the link above and, like me you'll be both amazed and amused!!!

Another source of info: the official FC Dordrecht site: Google " www.fcdordrecht.nl " and then hit "Translate"

Of course Dordrecht already have  a Wellington connection, with ex-All White Raf de Gregorio having once played for them.

Jeez....a former Netherlands U-17 and U-19 international would be worth having a look at. Dutch junior football is really strong.....they are like a factory for producing great players. They are normally technically very good.

You do wonder why he has not gone on to play for one of the Dutch Div1 sides. Jupiler league is Div 3 isint it?

Of course, you realise most of these names are translated from Dutch. For example, Brian Satisfied has been translated from Brian Tevreden, Brain Berg from Breinberg, Siberia from Siberie. Like translating Michael Schumacher into the English "Michael Shoe Maker".

FYI.

So...

Any word on this as of yet unnamed and unsighted 2nd trialist? I thought both trialists were supposed to be coming at around the same time?

Think they will need all three, I have not been impressed at all by Costa in the two runs at Porirua Park and would be worried if he was the sum total of our striking back up.

Whoa..back le Truc up...he is a live wire and shows the skills to take defenders on..just needs to learn to pass it more rather than always go for goal....he would be/is  good running off tall timber.

In hindsight he should have got more game time back end of last season IMHO.

Back on topic..I wait with bated breath for arrival of number 2 euro striker....just wanted to get it back on page 1 of posts
