Elrich to sign ? (Marquee speculation V.207)

Yes true.

Id say Ferrante would be sacrificed as he is equally as versatile. Christie has been very impressive in all games this year so my bet is he will start next outing.

Yeah Lunatic is an agent named Tony Rallis who represents many players in Australia. I googled it some time ago!lol

I think he's done well at RB, if ricky shares that view would ferrante's place be more at risk? Though Ferrante did silence a few of the instant critics on Friday.

Marquee $$$ on a sub? Somehow i dont think so.

Hi xcellent, it's all getting a bit confused here, I was responding to the following comment from Danny Z

>>>I dont think Elrich's signing would affect Christies chances of first team football. Ricki is a massive fan and because his so versatile he would still get a start I'd say. <<<

I probably should have said "Christie" instead of  "he".

Just googled this -

From 4-4-2 back in May...

"Wellington Pheonix are about to conclude the signing of Hadjuik Split Brazilian midfielder Felipe Souza Campos. Campos is a classical number 10 midfielder. Campos is being introduced to the Pheonix by their Australain scout Tony Rallis who has scouted the player thru former National League player Steve Panopoulos. Panopoulos a former South Melbourne FC midfielder is now a resident of Rio De Janeiro and the person responsible for introducing Australian Player of the Year Fred to Victory last year. Panopoulos has also introduced a number of other players to Rallis for his approval.

This article has been provided by:
Lunatic of Sydney
"

Lunatic writes about Tony Rallis in the 3rd person.  Egotistical or what?

I noticed that he talked up Cleberson and Felipe a lot pre-season, pretty much ignored Daniel and George.  I thought it strange at the time - I'll talk up any Brasilian, but he limits it to just 'his' boys, trying to big them up.  I also seem to remember him posting salary details of a couple of players, which is confidential information - I hope for his sake that club officials don't read these forums, because if they get onto the fact that he's given away info I'd think they wouldn't be best pleased!

Elrich is an experienced and pacey player who could add to the nix attack. He would be well suited to our style of play

Where has this Marquee rubbish come from.  I've not once read a reference to him being seen as  one at any Aussie/Kiwi club; and as he was only a bench warmer for Fulham why would he be.

I do remember him playing in the old NSL and he was very good but he isn't a Marquee.

Also how many, if any caps does he have for Australia.

the mariners were set to sign elrich but after making enquiries found out he was overweight, lost his touch and pace, and has not sufficiently recovered from his horrific knee injury

He'd be a marquee prospect for Newcastle then.

The whole thing smacks of a media beat-up by his agent.

Surely Ricki Herbert has done his homework on the guy as well, find out the same things as Mariners did

Yep just sounds like a typical agent media beat up to me now. If Ricki says he hasn't had any contact - he hasn't had any contact. valeo2007-09-18 12:04:48

yeah i was referring to the fact that i don't like Fulham...i don't know anything about the guy except from what i've read about him...however, i do still want the Nix to sign him...illogical? yes, dumb? probably...i guess i don't have the patience to wait for a better prospect

but like I said, i won't be crying they don't sign him, i'm pretty happy with team as is

Don't know how much homework Ricki does - he seems to have signed Cleberson based on the word of Lunatic/Rallis, who obviously didn't pass on the most crucial bit of info about Cleb - that he needs a loud, intelligent partner at the back or he is a liability.

As far as the lad's condition goes - he'll have a physical before any deal is signed, at which point the club would be able to pull out if he looked badly out of shape.

Benjamin, the way you go on about George and Daniel it sounds a bit like you have some vested interest also. You yourself kept coming out with "scoops" on George, Daniel and even Cassio from Adelaide. You must be an agent yourself.  I would like to know out of curiosity exactly which games you claim  you saw George play in Brazil. Your high assessment of him seems to be terribly off.
And about Ricki not doing much homework on Cleberson, I think that he was satisfied enough that Cleberson was captain of a team which reached the Grand final of the Rio state championships earlier this year. I think that he didn't do his homework on George which he was warned about beforehand but now regrets dreadfully. If he could get rid of him now, I know he would definately do it.

Hello Mr Rallis, nice to see you back again - although why the new user name?

My interest is in all Brasilians coming here and doing well.  I 'bigged up' Felipe as well, despite his nightmare in Croatia.  I want Brasilians to do well over here because that's how I like to see the game played.

I can catagorically deny being an agent, scout or anything else connected to football.  Can you?  Oh no, of course, we already know that you are Mr Rallis.

You mentioned to me some time back that Cleberson was a lot like Gary Pallister, and I mentioned that I knew Pally from my time back in England...  I didn't think of it at the time, but it's a fact that Pally was often talked through games by Tony Mowbray at Boro, then later by Brucey at Man Utd - a fantastic player who needs guidance during games to cover up his poor reading of the game.  This appears to be the case with Cleberson.  The team certainly looks a lot more defensively solid now that he's out, doesn't it?

As for Ricki regretting signing George - unless you've been talking to the man this is just supposition, and as Ricki says he hasn't been talking to anyone we have to assume you're being full of yourself again.

Surely he's not going to be a marquee... noooo!

Sign him yes, marquee no.  Save the spot for someone truely deserving when a player ends up out injured long term or leaves.

How can he possibly be the marquee player he wouldn't even be the best player in the team.

Are Moore, Thompson, Lazaridis, Jardel, Agostino or Vidmar ?

(I will accept I am not 100% certain they are all marquee's but most of them are).

Marquee doesn't mean the best player in the team or even the best paid - it just means that you can pay him without worrying about the salary cap.
