Good to see, always liked him. Tidy player and real nice guy, had a chat to him after a game once and he was super friendly. Great shots too (on the camera, not the pitch)

Always had a soft spot for him. I interviewed him for the YF poddy once and he was a top bloke - really wish he'd gained Aus citizenship sooner and had stayed with us for a few more years. I rated him highly.

I miss Hicks - thought he deserved more of a run for us... he must be nearly the lonly kiwi to play professionally(more than a token 1 - 2 games) for the Nix and not make the All Whites (excluding our young Smith).

... Watson has made squads, but never played?

Hicks played 1 game for the AWs whilst at the Nix. Played vs South Africa in 2014, http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/10105652/Young-All-Whites-put-in-solid-effort-against-SA

Watson never made an AW squad. I think he was only part of training sessions with other local players

Alejandro Rodríguez hasn’t had a single minute of first team football this season for Boavista. We could really do with him in for Ridenton IMO

And who do you not sign then, AK9 or Paracki? We were never going to pay out Finkler to keep A-Rod, so that isn't a realistic option.

Should have signed A-Rod as a WeeNix player for a season until he was NZ elligible then rolled him back in plus would have had him around for the inevitable meltdown from one of our other imports.

Also loving the scapegoating of Ridenton.  Hilarious stuff as we wave goals in every match.

Wasn't talking about signing him, I was talking about theoretically keeping him

Edit: don't need to worry about that now ;)

I actually think Ridenton's far from a scapegoat in my opinion, i know others don't really like him but for me other players have been far worse. Would still be a big improvement to have A-Rod though

What ever happened with Justin Gulley? I know he plays for TW now, but I remember him performing really solidly in the 15/16 season (I think), can recall even commentators like Slater and Harper said he was alright

Moved from more of a wingback into a solid centreback option. Also the captain lol, he's pretty good

I cant recall. What sort of contract was he on? Transfer fee or was it "mutual agreement of termination". If he just wanted out because Daddy lost his job we should be playing hardball over this.

My prediction that he would never play in a league higher than the A league is intact

No transfer fees allowed between A league clubs.

Also you wouldn’t really want the son around after you’ve sacked his Dad and he’s clearly pissed off with the club for doing so. At worst that’s a recipe for disaster, at best it’s very awkward.

I think its a tough situation that both Dario and the club handled really well. Out of the two Vidosic's it was definitely Rado that caused the most friction, we know that he's a piece of work to deal with from his short stints at other A-League clubs, namely Sydney and Brisbane. Dario on the other hand always comes across as very intelligent and rational, and while he still left the club I can hardly begrudge him for that - its his dad, of course he's gonna side with him over a foreign club he has no real ties too. Very diplomatic in the way he attended the 12 pubs too, I feel like he's taken a bit too much heat from nix fans when really he was put in a very awkward position by his dad.

I saw it more as a bit of grandstanding being as he invited the media along with him.

He did give a lot to Fever dreams too though.

I just think he could’ve either gone to the media OR come to the pub crawl to explain his side of the story (and given to charity). Doing both at the same time made it seem far less like it was genuine and far more like grandstanding. It felt like he saw a chance to hijack a Fever event and charity to push his own cause, and if he saw such an opportunity to shark stir in this instance it made me wonder if he did similar in the nix dressing room.

He did seem pissed off at the club, and that’s understandable, they effectively sacked his Dad. Someone pointed out he will have only got his Dads side of the story and seen no reason to disbelieve it. He says there was no undermining and the club used him and his dad as a scapegoat.

I think based on his actions and the way he was speaking about Darije and the club, the answer lies somewhere in between. There was undermining happening from Rado, Dario or both. Darije approached the club, the club decided to stick with their coach rather than their assistant. Afterward, the nix did hold Rado up as being everything that is wrong with the club right now, the did use him as a scapegoat in the media - I can understand how Dario got more and more pissed off as every new article or Phoenix interview/release came out about the situation.

Thanks for that Tegal, we [the Forum] hasn't been enlightened any more than the fact he was on the pub crawl and bought along a media guy, with some comment about him saying something about why was he given the captain's armband if the coach thought he was undermining him. From a personal standpoint, I didn't detect any scathing criticism from the club re him and his Dad but I suppose he and Rado will see any small thing as being critical of them [that would be natural], but again I thought the club didn't tell us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about their departure.
