Hmmm. Well, that sucks, for the 'nix. GC could do a lot worse with their first import spot - but I thought it was still TBC whether they played in the upcoming season or the one after?

Subject to the Galaxy Bars actually having a Licence to play the A-League. They still have to prove finances to the FFA next week!

I'm sure he'll find some good barbers over there ...

Well we just have to find a better attacking midfielder somewhere. There are plenty. He wasn't that consistent enough for us anyway despite the fact that we wanted him. He wanted more terms on his contract, of course after only getting one year. How the heck would we know that he turned out ok.

why cant they go and find their own players?

Still, no big loss. If hes causing us any problems, stick Dodd/Mckain/Johnson on him. Off by half time. Everyone knows how to play him.

yea good point.

teams had started to close him down anyway. they started to man mark him and not let him turn and he got less effective as the season went on..

f**k him! Good on Terry and Ricki, if Felipe was trying to hold us to ransom then we're better off getting shot of him. He was decent for us last season but he wasn't so good that he could start making unreasonable contract demands (which is what seems to have happened.) Good luck to him at the Gold Coast, shame he's gone but I'm over it already.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

It was always going to happen, once he left us other A-league clubs would have been all over him, GC can have him, it ain't gona make any difference they will be kack anyway

Look forward to the YF giving him a bit of stick when the Galaxy play in the ROF.

Still it sucks bigtime....Buts that life in pro footbal. We nicked Durante off the scum and Galaxy nick Felipe off us.
Its true that A-League defenders quickly figured out his play. Closely man marked he was quite easy to shut down. He is a good player though and I would have been happy for him to still be with the Phoenix.

Is there any strength to the rumours that there were some personality clashes with him in the Phoenix?. I heard that Rickie did'nt like his attitude?

I have to say, this is a bit of a toughie for me.

I mean, he was good - period. Might not have been extremely consistent, that is true too, but he often made the difference. Plus he 'flirted' with Daniel on the pitch, and the duo often outplayed the opponent defenders.

On the other hand, it's never nice to hear that one of your favourite players has left your club cause he wanted more money. But in the end, isn't it a career for him?
In 6/7 years time he'll have to retire and it's not like he'll have an education or any qualification..

i agree with that nzpower, may not have been the most consistent performer but he was good. always felt like either he or daniel would be the one creating chances for us. sad to see him go, not much we can do if gold coast offered him more then we could afford to though is there.

Players come and players go, same with favourites. Felipe? Who's that? Seriously, next season if he plaays against us, give him a cheer and cheer louder if we beat his team.

I wonder if they have someone lined up as a replacement??

He'll get the biggest who are ya, taking the corners at the RoF!!! Good on him, if the Galaxy want to pay him what we weren't prepared to, then hey go for it! Think i'll still enjoy seeing him play, as long as he's not scoring against us!

All he needs is a couple of boots up the arse in the first 15 and hes a passenger for rest of game.  We can call it now that hes left us for a rival club.

sloppy attitude, same sort of attitude that resulted in eduardo's shocking broken leg.

it's good he went to one of the new teams, they'll struggle to get good squads together with 8 teams already grabing Australia's best player.  Therefore won't really be a threat for a year or two.

Ive heard the training ground rumour more than a few times, plus there was the mid season njury which was linked to his contract negotiations.  He was never the same player after that...Id be very wary seeing him line up against us though, weknow what he can do (good and bad)

FFS theres a big diff between a boot up the jacksy and breaking someones leg.  Its called playing professional soccer.

and you play professional soccer do you? thanks for your expert insight.

im sure the majority don't go out with the intention to break legs, which isn't what i was getting at. i meant that the attitude of 'let the striker know you're there with a rough tackle early' is rubbish and won't do anything to enhance the stature of the league. if skillful players are hacked out of the game then they won't want to play in it.

I agree with Rod - i see no point in physically damaging a star player, just so he's nervous the next time he is on attack, sure impose yourslef a bit, lean on him, but an aggressive (unfair) tackle at anytime is not on. Im all for fair but hard play, aslong as its within the rules. I also beleive that if we want more skillful players in the league we are going to have to stamp out some of the more illegal physical on and off the ball stuff!

Seconded. I don't care what a players sexuality is, I care who they play for. And if Felipe plays for Gold Coast or anyone else in the A-League, I hope we'll be sticking to "WHO ARE YA?" and anything else we think up at the time. Homophobia, along with racism, has no place in sport.

I'm gonna wish  Felipe all the best wherever he ends up. Except when/if he plays against us

Exactly, lets remember when Felipe was ours we loved him and he loved us - not just because we jhad him, but becos he was ace! lets be the best fans in the league and respect his skill and giev him the rark up when he plays against us! i put money on the fact that he still plays up to the Phoenix crowd - his first home in the A-league

A couple of good games and then he dissappears for a few! BUT don't you just get the feeling that one of his good games will be against us? O well i'm glad that we didn't fold to any unreal demands.
