Like the topic says. I think:
1) Sydney F.C - Awesome signings should get it together
2) Queensland Roar - van Dijk looks good and their youth players (Zullo, Kruse etc) have more experience.
3) Wellington Phoenix - Need I say more?
4) Adelaide United - Solid squad as usual.
5) Central Coast Mariners - Signed Caceras who should bring their midfield together.
6) Melbourne Victory - Tied with CCM on points
7) Newcastle Jets - Lost to much talent to get it together
8) Perth Glory - No Colosimo or Bertos should do terribly.
I expect 3,4,5 and 6 will be close with Perth recording very few wins if any. What do you reckon?wellyphoenixfan2008-07-29 16:56:54

If we make the top 4 I will be very happy - can you imagine the atmosphere at a play-off game at the RoF.
If we make the final I'll be ecstatic - and poorer (travel costs) unless it is at the RoF

I think Melbourne and Queensland have actually recruited really well and have quite nicely balanced sides. Sydney to underachieve somewhat, but I think it'll be a tight fight between us, them Adelaide and perhaps CCM for fourth.

Jets were always set to be last without their fagboy. The loss of their captain just kills them even more. ( I think Durrante was their captain?)
I see Sydney as doing exactly what Chelsea keeps doing. Buying good but past their peak players and then loosing.

Perth will have to do bloody well not to come last... and durante was not captain at the Jets. It was Jade North I think.

Just to be decisive!
Personally think Newcastle & Perth look a good bet for the bottom. I feel that CCM may just have bit of minor premier fatigue (although who knows - very well run outfit).
Like the look of Melbourne (due to rebound after a bad 2007) Adelaide and Queensland (all seem to have a good mix of talent across the park). Bling - who knows?
With an extra striker, might have us in the top three.
I know, I know, its serious!

I think better than last year will be great, but imagine making the play offs, and at home, what an atmosphere.
I just hope we do well in all our home games, a couple of away wins and a few draws, and the league should be ours. HA HA HA HA
WELLARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Song and a 26yo Danish international striker, plus Covic is a quality keeper.
Bit short on defence but they will be a decent attacking side, better than last year I suspect.

I cant believe people aren't rating newcastle!
Their strike pairing is outstanding!
A danish international in his prime and Joel Griffiths (who although is a prick is an outstanding goal scorer).
They have Jade North and Adam Griffiths as Centre backs and good wingbacks. Midfield a little weak but still have Patafa and Song!
I rekon it will be unbelievably close ths year all around the board with little separating first from last.

Ah yes forgot about Song.
Patafta could be good, his technique is good, his strength is non existent.
Danish International? Thats a bit deceiving, when I looked he wasnt capped for the national team, jus t youth sides.. I could be wrong though

Just missing the top4 is a huge difference from finishing last or 7th like some people say!
They just signed an equador striker

Indeed. I had them in a dogfight with Perth for last and may be regretting my initial call.
I might just do the anorak thing and put all these predictions in a spreadsheet and check out who's making the best job of it (using a least-sqares regression type approach as any top-class anorakster would!).
