Howdy all,

Now that the CWC is outta the way, we want to make a massive push to build the biggest bandwagon going around.

The Phoenix are running a social media campaign, where you can win prizes by tweeting and facebooking a certain link. Have a read here and get spamming. https://www.48bricks.com/events/Wellington-Phoenix-FC-2

What else can I do? Good question. The Phoenix are providing match day posters for us to print off and put around the place. Here is the one for the Victory game. https://siggy-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/A4_5_April.pdf. So my plan is to place these around my office each week to try build a bit of interest and chatter. I reckon you should do the same.

Awesome idea! As a suggestion for the next game, can u include the prices on the poster. Nothing big, just the major ones adult 23 kids 5 family of 4, 50. That kind of thing. Just a suggestion...

I don't understand what has happened to our team?

Permalink Permalink

I think it is small things, sloppy passing, not scoring the crucial equalizer, some stupid mistakes at the back. Victory where better, and we missed the little things that dragged us out. Last week? Utterly shark!

I don't understand what has happened to our team?

1: Victory. Best team in the comp. they are not a CCM or Jets

2: no Riera

3: no Sigmund

4: returning internationals whom may be tired

5: played 3 strikers when a 4th midfielder would have been better

Pretty easy to see what happened.

We lost 3 nil with Reira and Siggy in the team against Sydney.  I can take a loss, but the manner in which we have played these last two weeks has been gut wrenching, especially at a time when we were on such a high.

OK now that we have secured a Home Final I have done a little detective work and have seen that the Canes have home games on both Saturday 2nd May (if we finish 3rd or 4th) or Saturday 9th May (Top 2 finish).

So I am assuming that we will play our final on a Sunday (either 3rd May or 10th May) which means I will be pencilling in some leave on Monday 4th and 11th in anticipation.

Stadium has been booked for the Friday and Sunday on both those weeks, but Sunday is much much much more likely. Friday night would be horrible for the Australian TV market.

Lots of office chat about the finals (and by office across road from the railway station I mean 2.5k potential fans) - oh OK likely to be a lot less but that is the population!

Even amongst hardy sports fans here they don't get what's going on with finals. "Is it like the NRL where you get a second chance" is an FAQ.

So I think Nix (and FFA as they end up with the $$$?) need to front foot this from next week if Sunday's result is favourable (or not if Adelaide implode again).

1. make it clear what it means for Nix - Knockout time!

2. whats the chances of hosting the big kahuna game - could be 1 or  2 games (both scenarios a big stretch but hey build the hype)

So what should marketing be?

e.g. for a month now there have been a couple of people out front of the railway station drumming up interest in Anzac Day AFL game. Nice flyer but all they say is "AFL?" - Get Nixie out with some mates (not +100kg YF men like me!!!) with a decent flyer and hard sell it. Makes a change from Save The Children can we have some money give us your credit card people (as noble as that is and yes I do contribute)

Lets get on it - 25k croud should be the target.

been talking it up in wanganui, but a lot of people feel they have no buy in for the phoenix.

to change this in the future i feel the nix need to get out into the areas within 2 or 3 hours of wellington, maybe in pre season do some kids coaching clinics or a pre season training camp, if you get the kids interested their parents are more likely to take them to games then they themselves get more interested and so it grows well hopefully anyhow.

Haha, no it's an office on Featherston Street. Past lunchtime for most people now and it's not been moved from where I left it. Can't say whether people have looked at it, but it's at least not been chucked away.
