If a flare ignites at ROF and nobody manages to see the guy who set it, did that person even do it?

Geez, I seem to have set something off here. I merely thought it was neat that a whole city, (or large parts) of it were celebrating.

As for flares, I do think they can be alright, but with NZ's drinking culture, the potential for numptiness makes them a high-risk option in the stadium. When I watched football in Korea, the main fan group used to light up something, but not flares. They were basically tin cans about the size of a baked beans can (or a little smaller), and the stuff inside produced coloured smoke, but no flame. They didn't do it every game though, and the stand was open terraces, not roofed in.

If flares were to be allowed, it could be controlled to an extent. The fans at Gyeongnam had a decent relationship with the club (much like YF), to the extent that they were able to store their banners and flags in a cupboard in the stadium. If flares were to be allowed, the club could stipulate that they be in the stadium before matchday, and picked up by certain YF (for example) members before kickoff, and set off in designated areas. This means you still can't bring them in on the day. No, it's not fair, but then we can't all run around in Red Badge jackets, either, can we? Of course, all it would need is one numpty to smuggle one in, set it off in the wrong place or the wrong time, and it would be all over.

Personally, I'm not that fussed on them being allowed, and I think the safety, and basic courtesy (much like flags), issues, outweigh the aesthetic ones.

My 2 cents says that they'd be pretty cool and likely entertaining - but you wouldn't want to be the guy responsible for allowing them, especially with the balls media we have.

White Gumboot tifo,

Left side chants "we're the left boot, we're the left boot, we're the left boot over here" while throwing left footed gumboots in the air.
Then..
Right side chants "we're the right boot, we're the right boot over here" while throwing right footed gumboots in the air.

That is it - release tear gas in the YF section every game.

Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite

They did that at our first game against the Tards.

HOW GOOD were the drummers before the game?

I reckon we should have them every game. They rocked.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

I agree, they were very good, but I didn't like them coming into the stadium before the game. They should keep things like that for the concourse and the Fran Wilde Walk, and leave the inside of the stadium for football and the fans.

I'd rather listen to them than the Bee Gees and ELO over the PA system. They were also orders of magnitude better than what we usually see labelled as "half time entertainment". Bring them back. Give them a half time spot so we don't have to watch morph suits in three legged races - FFS!

I would be okay with them as the halftime entertainment, however they came into the field at a time when the fans were applauding our team as they left the field after warming up, and drowned us out.

yep, I'm guessing the players would be more motivated by the fans than by the drums

It's played as every team in the entire league walks out, its FFA's standard walkout song.

So if all clubs were allowed to run out to their own songs what would the other clubs have???

Perth - "Bound for Glory" by Angry Anderson?
Newcastle - "Jet" by Wings

Others?

Exactly. Each club should have a unique identity, but FFA is forcing them all to be the same. All we get is different goal celebration songs.

I'm pretty sure Carnival de Paris is a club choice, not the FFA at all. For example, Perth has Chelsea Dagger for the goal celebration.
