I'm confused. Is the Fever Zone under martial law? If I'm entitled to be entitled to be in that area and want to wear a Roar jersey, with a Wanderers tutu and Victory coloured feathers out my backside, I should be referred to a shrink asap.

Just don't wear North Queenlsand colours round here mate.

Those exact words were chanted at the girl and the stewards got involved. She was also the victim of a vile song about returning to her slum. People all around where disgusted.

The girl packed her own blanket...because she was going to the football...it figures to take a football blanket!

Are kids banned from the zone then?

A chant was directed at the flag and Liverpool fans (the same chant has been sung against every A-League team and all EPL teams)
The stewards did get involved.
After a discussion with the stewards I told them I'd leave, to prevent any further trouble, as I was getting abuse from many fans who had not heard our conversation at half-time
The stewards told me didn't have to leave
I was told by the stewards that they'd get the 'blanket' put away (as it was being used as a banner, not a blanket)

Kids are not banned form the Zone but the parent/responsible adult should pass on home end etiquette.

This thread should focus on what is an acceptable display of other club's colours in the Fever Zone.
My opinion as stated earlier is that shirts and caps is acceptable/bearable/understandable,but  banners, flags, 'blankets' are not.

I'd prefer/am happy to discuss fan behaviour and etiquette in a new thread,

So, first it was people being told to f-off for not chanting and 'leeching' the zone for all of the atmosphere. Now it's people not being welcome because of their choice of clothing. This does nothing to dispel that sense of elitism which has been discussed so frequently on these forums.  Who cares what people wear, as long as they spend money and support the Nix. The example of a newcastle/liverpool fan/clothing has no relevance to this situation.

Pull ye heads in.

Congratulations Warwick on your promotion up the YellowFever Hierarhcial ranks.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Do we really want 'so called' fans telling a 6 year old to stick 'her Scouse flag up her arse?'

I was the instigator of this 'problem' and some context is required

- at half-time it was noticed that a Liverpool 'banner' was being displayed in the Fever Zone
- it was a total display of club colours/identity
- whether or not it's a blanket is immaterial, it was draped as a full Liverpool banner with crest and full club name
- I went and talked to the adult behind the banner, presumably 'newgolddream'
- a conversation ensued along the following lines
  - that's an unacceptable display of club colours in our zone
  - it's my daughters blanket
  - ok, then go and display it in another part of the ground, but not the Fever Zone
|  - why should I?
 - because it's unacceptable. What would happen if a Toon Flag was displayed in the Kop?
 - I don't know
 - you know exactly what would happen.
- several other people went and expressed their opinion, which like mine was ignored
- the blanket was still being displayed at the start of the second half
- a chant against the colours was expressed.

Context is fine - let's discuss this further-

It was a child's fleece blanket
It was not displayed - it was over the barrier together with 2 Nix scarves

Yes it was me you spoke to.

You said this is our zone then and NOW. So you ask me and my family to sit somewhere else - despite the fact that I am a season ticket holder for THE YELLOW FEVER ZONE and a have club membership.

The discussion re the blanket was pretty much as you said - however you have missed out the fact that you approached me in  condescending, superior and aggressive manner. Regrettably I told you to f off - as I was so upset by your rude manner.

Several other people did not approach my family, ONE foul mouthed individual approached me, in much the same offensive manner as yourself. I made my best attempts to placate this inebriated person and agreed when he requested that I took the banner down at the beginning of the second half. Which incidentally did happen when my 6 year old daughter returned from the toilet.

2 chants were 'expressed' the first was referring to Scousers who should return to their slums.  Let's get this 'into context' my 6 year old daughter was chanted at by 4 middle aged men.

Then those same 4 men, one of which was you, to your eternal shame, told her to stick her Scouse flag up her arse. I'm appalled.

You were spoken to be a steward for your disgusting display and told the steward that you would alleviate 'the problem' (your words) and leave. However, you came back after 5 minutes.

Your associate, a foul mouthed Man Utd fan - abused me at the final whistle, chanting and pointing at me as I walked past with my 6 year old girl, 11 year old son, my wife, and my kids 65 year old grandmother (my mother-in-law). He accused me of being a bad father because my kids were not in bed. I told him I am a season ticket holder and was taking my family to the match, because gran had come over from England, for a treat...WHAT A TREAT...thanks for making my family visit so pleasant.

The Man Utd fan then gave me a tirade of drunken abuse. Another guy in a YF T shirt apologised for his friends behaviour. The stewards then came over and the Man Utd fan, presumably your associate, was asked to apologise for his disgusting behaviour, which he did. Funny how he was reasonable when confronted by authority.

I also found it interesting that people in Everton, Arsenal, West Ham shirts were not challenged, perhaps it was because I was with women and children?

I did not abuse a six year old girl!
I talked to you reasonably at half time and after my conversation, as stated above,  you gave me a sarcastic reply of  "Thanks for your input"

You have absolutely no right to tell someone else what to wear when they have paid money to watch the football. Same goes for telling someone to chant, sing, sit, stand eat, swear, jump, dance whatever. Get off your high horse.

Think a complaint to the club should be made here.  The behaviour is entirely inappropriate, you can identify the culprits who have owned up to it on here, and there are many witnesses.  Someone at the club HAS read this thread tonight, hopefully they can do something

All clubs have supporters ranging from muppets to good sorts.

But if you could identify the abusive person as a toon supporter it reinforces Hard News' take on the wearing of colours in the FZ.

Well I've put my hand up as being the so-called instigator.
I am a Toon supporter
I understand football etiquette.
I proudly wear yellow and black when I go to a Phoenix game
If I did want fly a Toon flag/banner/blanket then I'd expect a reaction

Thank you for your support Purple Rage Minion. I will be taking this further.

Incidentally Warwick and his associates were displaying a Union Flag (albeit yellow and black) - did they not see the irony?

Okay so somebody's thought that they are in the right here, said some stuff that they shouldn't have and still think they are in the right. The other party probably didn't do anything wrong and (rightly) took offence to things that were said.

Nothing is going to be achieved by us bitching at each other in this thread, so I'm going to lock it down. The right people will deal with this, so we'll leave it to them.

If anyone's got a problem with this, contact us at mods@yellowfever.co.nz.
