Just a thread to discuss where former players have gone and how well there doing. I was making a whole list of there current clubs, but 2 times I accidently clicked a link when I had nearly done the whole list. Then the 3rd time I push backspace, and it go's back to the previous screen. Well over it. Anyway. Discuss.

G** has done bugger all, which would be about right.

Cleberson retired and was reportedly living in NZ somewhere.

Richard Johnson also retired, no idea what he is up to right now.

Elrich was released by CCM during the winter.

Kwasnik is back at CCM.

Fred is at the Philadelphia Union in MLS.

Reddy at Sydney.

Moss at Gold Coast United.

Smeltz just signed for Genclerbirligi.

Chen is still at Tianjin TEDA according to Wikipedia.

Plodder is with Tampa Bay in the USSF D2 Pro League (which is a one-season league while the organisation of the low-level pro leagues in the US is sorted out).

Aloisi is involved with his family's tile business and doing commentary for Fox Sports at Adelaide home games.

Caceres spent the winter playing for Inglewood FC in WA.

Coveny is the manager at South Melbourne.

Felipe ducked out of a contract with North Queensland before last season to play with Al-Raed in Saudi Arabia, where he is no longer listed as a player on Wikipedia.

Dadi was mulling over retirement in a facebook post a few months back.

George went to Venezuelan club Cara,I want to be banned FC according to wikipedia and supposedly scored 58 goals in 108 games, and is apparently now at some club called Binator De.

Who on earth is Stuart Webster, Robb?

Called in as a injury replacement GK backup in season 1 (IIRC). Saw no match time. Same deal as Imray and Higgins.

Oops, think that's a typo. I may or may not correct it.

Just to expand upon this - The name Binator De is a shortening of Binator de Luxonato according to the link itself. Which according to Google, on exists on George's WP page. So I'm calling shenanigans there, hence why I've listed him as unknown.

Cheers for the info on Caceres btw, I've updated my page to reflect that.

What happened?

Quite long story.

He was appointed at the end of last season, which is quite risky as it's his first coaching role and the expectation placed upon him was very high.

There's also a problem of the crowd disturbance which first led to a 0-3 forfeit loss from a 1-1 abandoned draw. The board appealed and had the 1-1 score reinstated but the club got deducted 6 points.

In the end, the club missed the finals by a single point (if not for the -6, South will be in 3rd place with strong momentum). That's one of the factors in him getting sacked.

Others were related to his coaching ability. Poor decisions (some of them questionable, some horrible) and with the squad at his disposal on paper the club should be comfortably topping the league.0

Personally I thought he should've been given the assistant role first to learn more about coaching rather than throwing him into the deep end.

Caceres has signed for VPL team Heildelberg for next season. They play in the same colours as the Nix. Very good pick up for them and should do well in he VPL. Tony P2010-09-28 15:16:46

Sorry Tony, when I saw the member tittle the Fever bestowed upon you I couldn't help but laugh my ass off.

But yes, Caceres, He could be doing better easily, hell, even NQF would have em probably.Azevo2010-10-01 12:45:28

I'm sure this has been done before, but I thought I pick Phoenix 'Legends' from this list of ex-players. Main criteria was being rubbish (for us), rarely playing, or earning the wrath of YF

GK: Spoonley (almost picked Scott Higgins - who conceded 5 in 45 minutes at the RoF for GCU, until I remembered Jake's season on the bench.

DF: Old, O'dor, Cleberson, Mulligan

MF: Elrich, G**, George, Kwasnik

FW: Chen, Draper

I've gone for irony by playing Mulligan out of position at fullback.
(Also, I didn't see any of season 1, so I'm not sure whether my defence selection is justified)

Fixed - how did I forget George, when he was the one who started that train of thought?

As I said, I didn't see season 1, but my impression on here is that Brownlie fell into a similar category as the likes of Johnson, Dodd, and Ferrante (season1 & 2 version), as decent enough A-League players, who put in a decent shift in a Nix shirt. Hence his omission.
