Sorry if this has been asked a hundred times already - I tried to scroll down on the app but haven't found anything - when will the book actually hit the shelves?

Fuck this stupid game

No, I really do think the anti-Siggy brigade coming out in this thread is interesting.

Just spoke to Helen who is organising the book launch, and she confirmed that there will be NO door sales. Entry by online booking only.

Opening talk of the tour in Dunedin tonight was really good. Ben was very open and honest, if you're undecided on whether to go to one of his events I highly recommend that you do. Piney did a Q&A with Mike McGarry as well, mainly about James, which was great. Highlight for me though was Siggy's smirk when the clip of him thwacking Kruse was played, and later him explaining himself. Brilliant.

You know we belong together...

Hey all

We have now made door sales possible for the event to be held for Siggy at the Bristol on Sunday 22 May, so, if you don't want to get online and register before the event, you can rock up on the night, and pay on arrival.  Ben is looking forward to the two events in Wellington, and hopes to see you all there.  If you do want to go online and register for either the Bristol or Johnsonville, and pre-order a copy of his amazing book, or one of the limited edition balls, head to Siggy's website

The Ben Sigmund All Star charity game in Christchurch on Sunday was a cracker.

The sun came out after a cloudy morning and it was up in the twenties again as it has been for weeks (high of 26 last week)

Some nice touches and classy goals from both sides and it finished 5-4 to the former NZ reps over Ben Sigmund's friends and team-mates.

I think it was 5-4 (there were so many goals in the second half, it might have actually been 6-4...)

Definitely 3-1 to the NZ reps at half time but the other side fought back well in the second half to make a really entertaining game.

Best players: Siggie (he relished pushing forward to try and get amongst the goals), Danny Halligan (former All White looking as slim and fit in his mid-fifties as in his prime in the 1980's and early nineties), Dan Terris and Tom Schwarz (well, they're current Canterbury United players), Michael Sands (former national league striker still an imposing presence and scored a great long range goal), Annalie Longo (current Football Fern somewhat fitter and more mobile than some of the pot bellied males on display and went around most of the male players with ease heading for goal).

First time a NZ football book has been advertised on a bus?

I was pleasantly surprised to be sitting behind a bus in Christchurch traffic last week and to look up and see Ben's face looking down on me!

The whole of the rear of the bus was taken up with an ad for Ben's book.

Appropriately it was the "Yellow Line" bus (they are always painted entirely yellow) to go with the yellow theme of the book cover and Ben's yellow Nix strip in the ad.

The book tour is sponsored by former national league player of the '70's and 80's and Christchurch City national league coach, Scotsman George Morris and his Corporate Consumables business. Ben used to work for him. Hence the advertising budget I suppose.

Just finished reading Ben's book, and highly recommend it if you haven't yet bought it... the extracts serialised in the media really don't give anywhere near the full picture, and if you read it in its entirety you'll get a different, and ultimately understandable, impression... some of the stuff explained casts a very interesting light on the NZ football scene, and you'll have more than a few "wtf?" moments reading it... and some laugh out loud stuff too.

So yep, if you haven't got it yet, do so!  And if retail margins are still like they used to be, order it from his website rather than buying it at the shop, it'll definitely be the better option :)
