Dissapointing performance all round. Credit to the Roar though, they got numbers behind the ball all night on defense but played classy attacking football at the same time. That Zullo is one to watch...

They destroyed us in the midfield, never gave us any time on the ball, where we sat back and let them run at us half the night and let ourselves down with poor passing.

They were gunning for Felipe as well (3 - 4 fouls in a row) and we missed him when he went off.

Also, thought it was odd that we kicked the ball out when Reinaldo had cramp while were on the attack. The Roar didn't seem to mind continuing to play and eventually score while O''Dor was on the sidelines with a busted nose...?

Ah well, bring on the Jets!

We seemed flat all game, Queensland beat us to balls and went into the tackles harder and with more determination, our first touches were poor, no-one ran the lanes very well, we didn't hold possession. They simply as a team, outplayed our team. Teams have bad days at the office and I think that this was ours. Maybe its a case of tactics (which i don't think were quite right for the people picked) or flight plans I don't know. Queensland definitely had a tactic of hammering Felipe so that he was a non factor in his time on the field and I don't think the referee did enough to protect him as a skillful and obvious marked ball player.

If we back this performance up, then I'd be worried, but this was 1 poor game and out of character with the last 6.

I'm suprised that Johnson and Aloisi didn't put the young debutants under any pressure. They had a free run out there. Not sure why no one was trying to muscle them off the ball??

had to laugh when Dodd(?) shoulder charged one of the young Roar guys from the ball on the sideline and the young guy went flying into the advertising hoardings - it was just the comparison of size and strnegth.

well, we bounced back from the [shudder] CCM game, so we can bounce back from this one...change of tactics seems necessary though, maybe look at adding more width and doing a lot of free kick training
I like tautologies because I like them.

agreed Dr Quack, they rotated the fouls on felipe,

I think they would have been relieved when he went off

Daniel and Felipe frequently get picked up by two players each, hence the space they create for others, glad we've got Daniel back next week

the free kicks were shocking, we set up for an attacking free kick about 4 times and ended up defending our own bloody goal inside 15 seconds due to sh*te execution

Was I the only one who thought that Qld employed some dirty tactics such as targeting Felipe (got away with two awful fouls that I saw) and then taking no less than 3 dives which were clearly fake and succeeded in delaying the game time and getting Dodd a yellow card?

I thought Zullo deserved a yellow card at the least for purposefullly taking out Felipe and tugging on his shirt?

I was quite surprised in reading through this. It seemed pretty obvious that they weren't playing a fair game to me...

in the second half with a two goal lead the Roar were going down like flies to soak up time, different player every time always writhing in agonay at some mystery injury.... Nix boys picked up on it to with Dodd booting the sh*t out of the ball over the sideline when one of there players went down - didn't look happy

Tactically speaking - why we have played 4 - 5 - 1 at home and then go and play 4 - 3 - 3 against a team that was always going to come at us is a mystery to me. First goal was a cracker but wasn't exactly marked if my memory serves me correctly.

Still - even when we lose it is still great to have our own team to support and we got a consolation at the end. All these away games though - we need a few points on the road for sure.

Come on guys - we know that Rome wasn't built in a day. All things considered, 2-1 is not so bad. The team is still settling down [yes even after 7 games]. We have the talent, we have the management, and MORE importantly, we have the supporters - enough of this negative rubbish, battles are won on historic experience, this minor defect in our strategy is but one of those lessons, that we ALL must learn, after all it means that we will get a bigger gate, when we win our next game.

That's all fine and dandy but if my team is crap i'm going to say they were crap.

"A lot more free-kick training", how's that for an understatement. Last nights free-kicks brought back memories of Malik Buari's free-kicks for the Knights.

Well, tbh i'm not too disappointed at last nights result. In the end to only go down 2-1 in trying conditions with our two most lethal players out it was still a fairly decent effort.

Their two goals were both well taken so credit to them, although both were avoidable had the defence reacted a split second quicker to get in and clear the ball on both occasions. Still that's football and so long as we learn from it then it served a purpose. Not sure who scored our goal, can someone verify i think it was George but not 100% sure, memory of game is somewhat blurred.

Highlight of the night was when they put my request for the last song on Alt TV to be by The Phoenix Foundation in honour of the Wellington Phoenix. Unfortunately this wasn't a good omen, and no i don't remember the song.

Three for me, and two for them.

anyone watching the replay on Sky? We seem to be doing better than I remember last night (still 2 goals down, but I'm hoping for a late goal from the Nix ....)

given that our two deadball specialists were off the park I think we can expect better in future matches

Yeh the freekicks were pretty shocking, not one of them really even threatened - they went either out of the park or straight to a defender standing on his own, nowhere near our boys.

I was amused to draw comparison between Reinaldo and Smeltzie though.  Reinaldo had a gimme goal and botched it as he has all season... Smeltz got a half chance and put it in the net.  Its good to see Smeltz in form and putting away any half chance that falls at his feet.

The worry is that the freekicks have been rubbish all season and they dont seem to be getting any better.Unfortunately that and some very poor delivery seem to be 2  things that been constants in all our games, yep even the wins.

I expect we'll see a few good efforts from Felipe and Daniel before the season is out, the way those lads (especially daniel ) hit some of their corners we can surely expect good things

probably need to put the ball into players rather than always attempting the glory shot though

IMO our best free kick this year was aloisi's quick one to set Felipe up v sydney (simple, intelligent - devastating!)

Yeah but see even the corners they dont actually get as many as they should across.Have to say if there is an area i have been disappointed in since the start it is the delivery of the ball or should i say lack of it from dead ball situations.
