But hey, if Unicef is good enough for Barcelona, then they are good enough for the ROF

Shh..don't let the puppies out of the bag yet!!  You know who Gareth's going to organise for our next big exhibition match at the RoF then don't you??

Do more.

Pile it on.

Do as many different things as it takes to get people along, and get as many people along as possible. And get them along as soon as possible.

Market the Phoenix here, there and everywhere, in everywhichway.

All day.

Every day.

In every way.

Who cares how easy it is to do the analysis of which idea worked and which didn't... get the crowds along, and worry about analysing which idea was successful and which wasn't later. Use social media to canvass the newly enthused fans and ask them which one worked for them.

That's the attitude we need!!

Isn't it an option of taking $1000 or taking $800 plus giving $500 to UNICEF?

Be pretty stink to take the $1000 and leave those poor kiddies with nought. But it is two hundy bucks bae! MORAL DILEMMA.

You'll never beat The Salmon!

I stopped personally training 'keepers after realising how many puppies it was kiling. Sorry.

But yeah, Gareth: first the stick, then the carrot. This will be interesting.

Totally, everyone loves this kind of thing, just like the catch a 6 thing at cricket games.
It seems to me that the owners could offer free tickets, limousine rides to the game, and complementary bubbles and some of you would still be complaining that you didn't get any caviar with it.
On another note... huge pressure on the 1st person to give it to charity! My guess is that if the decision was made in private 95% would take the $1000, but as it will be broadcast, most will give $500 to UNICEF.

If I win it I will donate the whole lot to charity (mind you the last thing I ever won was a stuffed tartan  frog at a Jewish fund raising  market in Edinburgh  when I was 12 )
It's a nice thought that some  poor bugger somewhere a lot less decadent  can have a decent feed for once whilst I gorge myself on five pints of lager and a Daniel Burger at the Back Bencher !

Someone should put Gareth on the spot (assuming he's there) by challenging him to match it if you take the 1000 and give it all to charity. It's cheeky, but that's what I'd do.

Ummm, but if you took the $800 (plus $500 to Unicef) and gave your $800 to Unicef, then Unicef would be getting $1300. And if you challenged Gareth to match you, and he did, Unicef would have $2100. But if he didn't match you, they'd have $1300.

But if you took the $1000 and gave it to Unicef, they'd have $1000 if he decided not to match you and only $2000 if he did match you.

In both cases Unicef is better off if you take the $800/$500 combo...

What? $1000 from me + $1000 from Gareth = $2000.

$2000 > $1300.

If you take The $500/$800 combo and donate your $800 to Unicef, and challenge Gareth to match you..

$500 + $800 from you plus $800 from Gareth after you challenge him to match your $800 = $2100.

$2100 > $2000.

We need a firm commitment from every YF member that if they win the money they would give the $500 to Unicef and post match put the other $800 on the bar at the Back Bencher.

Its a win win situation.....some kids in Africa get WeetBix for brekkie and the YF get free beers

I did wonder in the Heart Black-out thread if something else was going to be tacked on and here it is! I guess as long as its for charity and its not undervaluing a season membership it should be all goods.

also, who gets to claim back on the donation money? assuming you gift the 500 to Unicef? cos if you could then you'd actually get approx $966.

The Daniel burger is the original and I will always refer to it as that. It was then renamed the Ifill burger.

Not sure what steak sandwiches used to be called though...

Here is what I will do if I'm the one sitting in the seat

I'd say option B thanks $800 + 500 = $1300

But......

I'll want to give $1000 to Unicef and I get $300 to then put a bet on the Nix to win the game with our new sponsor TAB sports!

Unicief win, the Nix win and I win!

Take option B, give another $500 to Unicef and ask uncle Gareth to match it dollar for dollar, put the remaining $300 on the TAB.

But this is all moot anyway because the prize is going to keep jackpotting until the final game and I'm going to be taking away the super jackpot personally.

Wouldn't give money to UNICEF at gun-point.  They've been operating for half a century.  In 2008 they had an income of over three billion US dollars.

And half the world's children live in poverty.

$1000 to a worthy cause would be much better than $500 pissed into the wind and $800 pissed up.
