Lol it's pretty funny - on fox sports news they show Old's mistake as a goal and don't show Smeltz's header :|

I heard the 'Wellington is Wonderful' chant pretty clear on the TV - was tops.

mate I would be interested to know why you thought Elrich played badly last night?

I thought he had his best game in a NIX shirt and was close to MOTM...

admitedly he stuffed up that shot on goal near the start, but he also did some great things.

He played a big role in our second goal, and remember it was his free kick delivery that should have lead to a Vince Lia goal, but for Steven Old to needlesly get in the way...

really enjoyed the atmosphere last night after finding the Adelaide / Galaxy games a bit wayward from a YF (and results) point of view. The thundersticks (?) seem to have disappeared (thank goodness) and it's fantastic how many different chants got taken up .....

Carnivale de Paris
Wellington is Wonderful
C'mon Phoenix
Same old Aussies ....
We're not Aiuckland
Stand up for the Phoenix
Let's go to the Disco
Ricki Herbert's .... Yellow Army (sounds really good on the replay this morning)
Who are ya ???
The referee's a w*nker
You've got the worst keeper ..
We've got the best keeper

plus new ones;
You're just a load of convicts ...'
and one about Mossy but can't remember how it goes

Oh - and good on the Perth Glory fan down the front

I sit in block 24, and usually The big Scouser24 sits behind me and because there are a couple of us with Hammers shirts, you can imagine the banter has continued through the season. I wondered where he had got to when his mate Hammers4ever returned to the seat without him, but the thing that did happen was that in his absence we were lacking a bit of vocal, so in our best voices we rose as a small group and gave a rendition of Bubbles. Our way of celebrating a good win.
Earlier on this site there was talk of people not wearing other club shirts. Wouldnt have struck up a friendship with Scouser 24 if he and we had taken that advice.

just watching the match for the third time and noticed that it was tackels on Covs that got both Perth players sent off; Covs has obviously taken over Daniel's role

and Smeltz's second goal is total class - it seems the less 'thinking' time Smeltz has, the better the shot

having watched replay now, very impressed with Lia, he had a huge game. But not so impressed with Ferrante's game

I've watched Smeltz's header 20-30 times now and it just keeps getting better and better. The cross was slightly behind him, making it that much more difficult to get power and accuracy, and yet how easy did he make it look! His best of the season for me.

Yep.  Though the equalizer against Melbourne was the most memorable.

There is truely the only great football song and we sing it with pride.

I suppose I'm a bit disappointed that when a song does go out not everyone sings it. I firmly beleive for the Phenoix to get the results they need ALL the crowd behind them, if tyhis means people may use words the may not use in the streets than so be it. We need to make it an atmosphere that when the Aussies arrive they feel intimated from the kickoff to the 90 minute. YF do make a good effort but as a whole 8000+ giving crap to the Aussies is better than 2000

So all together now .....

Because I counted the times he crossed it straight into a defender and I ran out of fingers and toes. His job is to get in good crosses  and attempt to beat the defender - he never attempts to do this. I noticed his brother was having exactly the same problem - maybe it's genetic?

He did great on the 2nd goal, i'll admit, and I suppose I was harsh on him because I made a point of watching him all game and he annoyed the hell out of me. Every defender puts their leg up when they think you're going to cross and Elrich does the same f**king thing every single time with the same result! (even when his marker, Topor-Stanley, was sent off) It was noticable that all of our wing play came from Lochheads side.

Ferrante has been playing much better and is a better crosser of the ball too + Aloisi needs to slot in there somewhere when he comes back. No room for Elrich imo.

Does anyone really think that Perth were a good team, Perth are bottom and there's a reason for that, similiar why we are second to bottom.

If the Phoenix can actually use the extra man in games when given it to them then they should have a good chance of making ones into threes. This problem has put the Phoenix in the position they are.

The game against Perth we were playing against 9 players but we didn't dominate the game from there. Position and passing was poor.

I was saying to Scouse24 that this game had the making for 6-6 shortly after kickoff and examples from both teams made me think it would.

BUT...... Phoenix are young, first season and hopefully will improve with a few new players. A winger that can actually take on people and cross would be nice, as well as playmaker in the middle and a strong centreback.

Ha ha! That's funny, valeo: "I made a point of watching Elrich all game and he annoyed the hell out of me." I also did that and he did the same to me too. But after our 2nd goal I stopped worrying about him because EVERYONE was annoying the hell out of me. Our midfield especially went to pieces and gave away the ball constantly without pressure. I was tearing my hair out because no one, NO ONE, tried to take control, keep the ball and play smart (at least until Johnson came on late).

Inexperience I guess, but I don't like to see a Phoenix team on the park without Brown - to me he's the cool head we need. I've been very impressed with him so far and can't see why he would be left out.

Yeah we either need Brown, Johnson or Aloisi on the park. Johnson did good when he came on imo.
