Jeez, I wish I shared your confidence about the Sydney game.  Big question is not if we can beat Sydney next week but will we beat the crowd attendance at Perth today.  I live in hope?????

It's a fair point - Sydney are looking pretty good at the moment.

By means of a 1-6-4 formation I mean gk, 6 defenders and 4 up front.  Our midfeild was missing.

Isn't Sigmund from Auckland?  Non holders of the Ranfurly Sheild and no football team in the A-league?

We were crap last season, we're crap this.  Nothing has changed - just a few faces.  The team selected was never going to do the job.  No spark, no creativity.  As soon as I saw Johnson and Ferrante together my heart sank.  Bottom again at season's end without doubt.  We're a joke.  5,000 next week - if we're lucky.

Relax dude...Its not the end of the world for the nix....Too early to jump to conclusions...

The season is only 10 games long????

Its simple, last season,we did very well, even if we finished last. Riki did a GREAT job with such a hastily assembled squad. This season however he has no excuse. But you cannot say that for a season and 5 games, hes done a sh*t job....just 5 games. Its for that reason id give him the benefit of the doubt and let him stay beyond this season.

If its the same for the rest of this season and next, only then would i be all for looking for a new coach

Allegedly

Stop saying "I can feel a win is close", "watch out Sydney", "it's going to come together soon", "we're better than our league position" etc. etc.  Sydney will rip us apart next week.  It is not going to get better any time soon.  We're in for another season like the last.

We'll win 4-0.

3 to moss (AKA Superman) and 1 own goal by the bling.

Bring back Stu Jacobs.  Soon as I saw the line up at 7pm I thought,"Aw sh.t, this aint gonna work" And just to show how dumb Sherbert is, when Perth bring on an attacking sub and they start running all over us, what does he do? NOTHING.

yep nail on the head. no advantage from our subs. Coach lets the game meander until it has drifted away from us, and then panic subs. I thought twice in the last two games there were moments when bold coaching could have helped us with the momentum. When we had the impetus leading up to that goal mouth scramble last week, and around the 60 minute mark or earlier this week.

He signed the players, runs the trainings, and picks the team. So he is accountable. Shall we wait for another wooden spoon before doing anything? Get rid of him before it is too late.

Having been raised on lower league football in England, I refuse to recognise this whole season as being doomed just yet.

However, next week against Sydney? Yeah, a draw would be a great result against them. They look in fine form, having stuffed the same Adelaide team that thrashed us. This is going to be a tough match.

Yeh but he does hava point though.  Mulligan made one or two timely tackles but overall he was ball watching just like he did against Add Ladys and the Sailors last week.  Sigmund looked solid last week and deserved to start today. Mulligan is out of his depth I'm afraid.

I'll go with that. Sekulovski came on and gave Mulligan all sorts of problems for about 10 mins before he set up the penalty. A change should have been made (or at least been coming) at that stage, not 7 minutes after the goal.wolfman2008-09-21 21:24:48

Who else would you have coach, there is no one else. And please no one suggest Jacobs.

When was the last time we scored. A marquess striker surely has to be what we  are after now or a truely quality midfielder to create things. A marguee will seem less and less expesive if the crowd numbers keep dropping.

Stop being so down. Move on, look forward to the next game and hopefully catch a first win. Though a draw would be like  a win.

And Gao is from China, presumably non-holders of the Ranfurly Shield (whatever that is - can't be arsed to google) and I'm certain has no football team in the A-League.

Glen Moss is from Hastings, ditto all of the above.

Etc for almost all of our players who are not from Wellington...

But how does that impact the relevance of their selection for the Wellington Phoenix.

They had a mid-week game in Asia and brought there entire squad and were missing Pantelis.

was very difficult to watch today the ball speed and general skill level was quite poor, I think it's time they gave the Young New Zealand players a decent opportunity Draper and Costa can't do a whole lot worse than what happening atm and maybe inject some much needed energy and confidence into the nix.

1-0 down, less than 10 mins to go and the tactical change to drive for an equaliser is.... a fullback swap.

really?

I'm not a big believer in the theory that change in manager will force an immediate upturn in performances, but... it's not *just* poor tactics that are costing us games, it's the below-par performances. They are looking beat before a ball is kicked.

So, what's happening with the team? Coveny's mid-week ourburst is evidence of a disconnect, and I'm wondering whether the cracks are showing? Has Ricky lost the squad? If that's the case, no amount of team bonding is going to recover that.

Oh, my prescience strikes again. Unfortunately. Wrote that two days ago.

Another sh*t game, another sh*t performance. I'm tired of writing the same old sh*t after every game, but here goes quickly just for keeping up appeareances - get Mulligan (fark, his such a waste of space) out, put Siggy in, push McKain into midfield and Dodd at CB, put Costa on the bench and try and find some help from somwehere, to Smeltzy. I really feel sorry for the guy.

And Mossy is a legend.

Tight as a drum at the back. Midfield were huge. Up front we were electric...

Eh? what? when?

Oops, these comments were for another forum...  sorry.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

We're gunna lose Smeltz at this rate. And what the bloody hell was leaving Coveny out all about. He worked his ass off in that last game, I've never seen a nix player do more running. What a kick in the teeth for him. Ricki's substitutions are just a bloody laughing stock. We were miles, miles better last season and I don't know how. Were Felipe and Aloisi really that great of a loss? Or did we just assume that once we got a few defenders with good reputations that everything would be served up on a platter for us.

I called all Rickis subs before he made them. I was happy with them -just think it should have been at least 10min earlier for each.

I think Mulligan has been given his chance and should take a rest next week.

There's nothing wrong with playing one main striker - most of the worlds best teams do - its just that we sucked in the midfield again and the passing from the defence was dodgy. McKain has  done a lot of howler passes throughout this season

And not just because your powers of prediction are so strong, I agree with everyone of your suggestions. Only thing I'd add is replacements for Hearfield and Gao.

What are you doing next week as I think we do with you assisting RH.
