Not amongst the general football/sporting public Jag. Hence it's "news".

Yeah, no issue at all with papers printing it, just surprised a member of this forum didn't seem to know it was coming.

Unless the general public have started reading this forum! How dare they?

.....but you've shamed me into editing out my  'IBTL'

I didn't know this, but I don't really read the transfer speculation thread.

figured it would happen, he's been used as an RB for too long, and even though he'd say he's happy to be playing realistically he wants to be a starting midfielder.

Lives indeed! But honestly, had no idea he was even off contract!

Any clue what he's getting at CCM (except sunshine...)?

This.  RM is pretty much locked up by Wee Mac. So perhap they see him as a RB too.

He's gonna play up front and become one of the top scorers in the league next year, then make it into the team of the year to recognise his true potential

This also puts to bed the concept of him being lined up for the All Whites.

On a side note, now we know why Troy wanted to take that penalty, he knew it was his only chance to leave really positive memory with the fever zone. While upping his goals to games ratio

If it frees up room for Hearfield, I'll be more than happy to have the Phoenix take Wee Mac off CCM's hands. You know, just for Troy's sake...

Also woinder where he will play, CCM packed with good midfielders, with Boich at RB dont see too many starts for him

Bad move me thinks.  I reckon Troy will come to regret this.... unless RH didn't want to keep him.

All his mates are in NSW so socially probably helped his decsion.  Also every chance he'll be paid occassionally :-)

Kind of sad he is leaving.
Last year he formed part of our best defense lineup of all time.

Hearfield, Durante, MCain, Locky

Plus he has been doing the business at the tail end of this season. He has been a good versatile player who has really made a contribution to the team.

Good Luck Troy.....hope you have continuing success in the game(except when you play us)

Yep, I think he has been pretty good. A few mistakes as you would expect from someone shifting positions, but especially over the last couple of months he has been very solid. I think he should remain as a wingback, its the best position for him.

I think we'll find he'll be harder to replace than we expect. His ability and pace to keep up with some of the wide players of other teams has been a real strength of our team.

Yes he makes mistakes and gets beaten too, but then so has everyone in the defence.

Sad to see "The Disco" leaving. Good luck at the Mariners!

Yes, I think he has been good for us and will be treated well when he returns with those filthy rotten scum from north of that rat hole that is Sydney....there.....

Always liked him as a person, even if he wasn't one of our better players. I wish him all the best at CCM.

I agree that he has been solid in the last half of the season and we could end up with a Lochhead situation again whereby if we don't sign a specialist right back, we may have to play someone else there again. Would hate to see Manny having to fill in again. Gooner 4 Life2011-02-17 13:11:56

Never fully made it at the Phoenix. Did ok but was lacking in vital departments, passing a main one. Still, was a good honest part of the team and filled the gap at right back quite well in second half of the season. Good luck Disco.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Too many? I seem to recall a reasonable cross that reach Marco last week. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that he delivered another. Just can't recall it.
