Well do us all a favour and support your beloved Auckland team. Just dont hate on Phoenix because yr auckland players have not been selected. And we'll support our beloved Nix the best way we know how. [/QUOTE]

I don't hate the Nix, but if it comes down to watching an essentially Australian team from Wellington win the A League then it's just the same as watching Sydney FC or the Mariners. I'd say the same thing if the Nix were Auckland-based.

If it were an Auckland team you would most likely support it since its representing your city. You talk a lot of crap in my eyes and it kind of got boring 15 pages back.CboZ2010-01-19 14:43:38

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

It wouldnt be the same for me, cant wait till we, The Nix, win the A League.

I just love having professional football in New Zealand. Have waited years for it, loved the Kingz and Knights and now love the Nix.

Would like more NZ players, but they are not good enough yet, I hope they come on in time, but I'm happy with this set up.

agreed, Bluemagic really only seems to be concerned with his little Aukcland clubs....

Yeah actually NEW ZEALAND is the word your searching for...is it flooding badly down there ?? I see Baiter has crept out from under his rock....

Thanks uncloz. Yes NEW ZEALAND is the operative word. Haynes is practising hard to say "gidaaye mayte" - honest he is.

PS - this cantab Aaron Clapham looks promising too. As for this TW kid Draper, you should give him a game.

Greg Draper? The same Draper who was contracted to the Phoenix for the previous 2 seasons and failed to impress Ricki enough to get more gametime than Costa?

*Sigh*

What would NZ's inclusion in Asia mean for the limits on foeign players in A-league teams?

If NZ was in Asia, same as Australia, would that mean NZ citizens would be "home country players" same as Aussie citizens, for the purposes of the A-League?

Cheers,

Asian players are foreign for Aussie A-League teams so you would have to think that the likes of Durante and co from Australia would be classed as foreigners.

IF that wasn't the case though it would see NZers being elligable to play for Aussie teams again without taking up the foreign spots which would be great for NZ Football.

I agree completely.  I don't care whether my other teams (Leeds Utd and Plymouth Argyle) have non English players (I'm a mongrel kiwi born British passport holder in London) as long as they play well and win thier respective comps.

This for me is the same for the Phoenix (I'd rather win it with a team of Aussies then repeat the final days of the Kingz stacked with B grade kiwis who weren't up the NZFC level) and ACFC (tbh being a Waikato fan I normally hate ACFC!!!).

Not fixed as I said Kingz NOT Knights.

There were basically no Brits ever in the Kingz, which may have been one of the clubs problems (just look at how the bhoys are performing right now for the Phoenix).

You predicted crowds of 1500 with in 18 months.  You're 18 months late.

Also, terrible for the game to see the Phoenix draw well over 19k today.  Disastrous, seeing all those kids supporting football with their shirts off.  Just awful.

Christchurch = 19200 attended the match last night. It shows how popular Phoenix is. Thats how it is helping new zealand football. I hope the team plays future games in chch and in auckland. Its about spreading the message that Football is doing well.

Why pick on Otago now? Every one knows its more of a rugby strong hold. And you'll probably find no one really cares about the NZFC there especially when the team is doing so poor.

Get the Nix in the new stadium you could easily add a few 0's on that number.

They're third in the league.

Shows how much you care about our national league.

Three for me, and two for them.

For my old club yes. Dont have any emotional ties what so ever to Otago United. You may find that's a common mindset down there, also it may not be, I'm sure this has been brought up elsewhere

P.s The last time i checked (about two weeks ago) they were third to last. Sorry for not being up to date.

Caversham, Dunedin technical. sh*t, I think I remember when they were both in the national League along with Christchurch United and  Woolston? Or were they in it at various stages?
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I'm going to email Macs Brewbar about whether they are keen to show Nix games on a weekly basis for us. Let me know if you're keen so I can give them rough numbers if they're skeptical.

Did i hear correctly that 2500 watched the game between AKL City and Waitak Utd...??

If so, that's a good turn out.

Yeah but all of them were City fans.

The City Waitak derby is a good example of why the NZFC is good for the game.

I have not much interest in the result when Central United and Waitakere City play each other, but am genuinely intrigued by the result when ACFC and Waitak play each other.  If I was in Auckland and that game was on I would definitely get there, but I'd be a lot less bothered if it was a Northern League game.

Just saying.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I've quite enjoyed the ones I've been to, although I have to say the atmosphere is created by only one set of supporters. The Ytak fan doesn't make much noise.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
