Sorry guys, I think Ifill is great,
but after watching the game v mel, I think Ifill should start passing the ball to other players more often, otherwise Ricki should play him as striker up front...I'll feel OK if he loses the ball in the penalty area but as an attacking mid your job is to provide service to the guys in front of you.
Just look at him vs Henandez tonight, they both have great skills, they both beat players, they both fire shots but the only difference is that Henandez is not as selfish as Ifill...at the end, he got 2 goals + countless nice passes and Ifill costed us 1 goal...Greenie & Dadi haven't had any good service from our midfielders...
And it's not only him, it's the black hole of our midfield this season, hopefully we can get a central attacking midfielder with good sight and passing skills next season. just like Corica, Henandez etc, who can actually distribute the balls and organise the midfield when we attack...
Adelaide game crucial...we should make the top 6 if we win, so c'mon NIX!

I do love Iffy and I would turn for him if prompted but I did comment tonight that he could be a bit of a 'hungus'

possibly getting a bit frustrated at the NIX's general inability to do anything meaningful after he passes the ball.

I think he feels that there is a lot on his shoulders and tries to take to much on.

Hard to argue with 9 goals and probably about that many assists. He tried very hard tonight but was simply well contained by a solid Melbourne midfield and defence.

What he needs to do is run after he makes a mistake. Not just put his hands on his f**king head and walk around while Melb run away and score

When everyone else plays like donkeys I am not surprised he won't pass to them, he was the only one who looked like actually doing something last night

You could not blame Ifill for last nights fiasco. He at least tried to get himself into shooting positions. The problem last night was we played two strikers and did not have a Caceras/Bertos type winger to whip in crosses.
Ifill does Ok.....we just nead the rest of them to pull their weight!

Sure Ifill must feel sometimes he's playing in a 'league two' side.
Don't blame him.
PS. Go Notts County!

Yeah. When the rest of the team is sh*te, at least he tries to make stuff happen.

We need 9 more Ifills and 1 Pasty and we'll be sorted, simple.

Agreed..I have commented on his obvious level of frustration with the general standard of play previously...and the fact htat he overcompensates at times for that and takes on too much. U can see his brain working way ahead of others when passing opportunities are there and they are not in position.
Hopefully he gets encouragement to keep doing what he does well and others are told to pull finger and think faster.
A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

without iffill we would be occupying bottom spot its that simple, no one else in the side are on the same page as him, he is too good for this league

I'm surprised he hasn't been picked up by an Asian club to be honest.

lay off him
he's a legend.
who else was trying to create anything last night eh ?
he was the only one who had balls to shoot and take on K.Muscat (in which he won)

Yeah the switch pass to Hearfield on the right that went straight into touch was an example of that. He saw the pass,Hearfield just wasnt awake to it in time. Hopefully he gets encouragement to keep doing what he does well and others are told to pull finger and think faster.
Allegedly

I think sometimes as a few have said he takes on too much, but to be honest when he gets marked as tightly as melbourne did last night, the the other playmakers need to step up, Leo and diego, and co have to be making more room for Ifill to make his moves.....when we have both Leo and Ifill on the park then oppositions struggle to shut down both attacking options...and we do well. The simple fact is that last night Ifill was the only one making any moves, got shut down early and that effectively took Dadi, greenacre and Ifill out of the game.

This is exactly right. You could see this with the pass he hit with the outside of his foot into space down the right in the 2nd half, and Hearfield was about 15m behind the times.

Disagree with whoever said after losing the ball he needs to run. He doesn't lose the ball very often and when he does he often wins it back again.
Ifill >> daylight >> rest of the squad.

ifill is the man, but i have noticed he hardly passes the ball and tries to take on too many defenders by himeself. sometime's this leads to good shots on goal, but a lot of the time he gets tackled with 1 or 2 players in support, open, and left in the box wondering why no pass came.
it is frustrating to watch him hold the ball so much when there are good chances to open it up. sometimes it seems as though he doesn't have much faith in his forward team-mates.
great player though.

He does try and take on too many players, but as others have mentioned, the movement is just not there a lot of the time for him to make a pass. Maybe needs to lift his head a bit more but hard to argue with his contribution this season.

at least he takes players on in a possitive manner, yet if the pass is there he will play it instead of trying a trick or running at someone. (unlike our firend Daniel) He doesnt over play the ball.
you got to remember teams wont sit back and allow him to tear them up, they have got wise and will double up which makes his job harder. 100% correct saying the other players have to step it up around him, if the opposition is concentrating on Iffil then other players should be taking their chance to hurt them.

Ifill looks to good for the rest of them.
As Welly PFC says they are onto Ifill so there is space somewhere else.
Just nobody else on the field seems to see it or move into it. More like to be too busy marking there opposite, on attack.
Many times there have been two or three on ifll yet still he has no one to pass to.
No wonder the Nix sometimes look like a one man show. They are.
When he retires, Ifill for coach, or maybe sooner.

Quote from a mate who is a Melbourne Victory season ticket holder:
"#8 (Ifill) and #2 (Muscat) where good, the rest were rubbish"
Big complement for Manny to be put in that company!

though thought Manny did make some great tackles again.
yeh. Ifill is the only player good enough to cope when the game plan isn't exactly working.
