Fever TV?

Great idea.  It has been previously suggested but not well received

On Hard News point about people not knowing when games are, I do struggle to believe that really has a genuine impact on crowds.  Surely everyone who is likely to go to a game knows when they are on??

Terry, bless him in n his day had council convinced to stick up his flags all over town. Unless you were some sort of dumb ass, it got you asking if there was a game on.....I miss Terry. ...not his money of course!

Yeah I was looking for the nix flags and all I saw was WOW everywhere.

The best advertising is always going to be by the media, maybe they should start wining and dining the top sports journalists.

Someone posted a link to the CCM website where they had a live stream of training and then interviews with Moss and Roux, I know it's only going to appeal to the core fan base but it demonstrates how the nix are lagging behind even the other small clubs when it comes to engaging the fan base.

The obvious lesson we are slowly learning here is that Welnix do not really give a shit about the already established hardcore fans, otherwise we wouldn't have been treated to yet another edition of the Birdie dance. I wish Tony was still here running the show. Everyone knew what was going on and fans were treated with respect. He would have kept Gareth quiet too. He must be just about due for another outburst shortly.

I'm sure there's a few children out there that do.

My point being, that just because you may not like the entertainment, doesn't mean they club are treating us/you like shit.

It's coming back.

I just ignore the birdie dance. Did they even do it at the Perth game?

I brought it up a few days ago in another thread - I reckon they could do a deal with TVNZ to play the nix games free to air, and stream the rest with all the pre-match shows.

The problem is production, but I can't imagine that production cost is outrageous anymore - you either get TVNZ to do it in exchange for free content, or you do it yourself

HD live production switches for say 10 cameras and a control panel will see you back maybe 10k US.

Cameras themselves for 4k distribution (not required, but why not) are about 3k US a pop for studio cameras

The various lenses would be 2k each maybe, with motor drivers.

Mikes for the pitch and Phoenix zone, 5k for five.

So your looking at setting up a complete production system for less than 100k. The above is all 4k HD professional fit for purpose gear, not web cams or SLR's or anything like that.

The issue would then be distributing the content, you'd have to talk to someone like Kordia to figure that out.

Other left field suggestion would be to contract the TAB to do it, they have those trucks that they drive around to film the various race meetings and are pretty much full mobile broadcast facilities.

If I had the dough I would seriously consider doing a premier league pass style thing with an online stream, do deals with everyone for free content. For a total outlay of say half a million you should be able to support it via adds or premium subscriptions for on demand content. If you streamed it you could also geo block IP addresses resolving from the Wellington region.

Don't the OFC have all the stuff to do this kind of thing? Maybe they could do it?

The OFC were even talking about setting up their own channel on Freeview I think - however the level of production that I've seen from the OFC is not to the level that we would want for the A-League.

The pod covers all the Round 2 action including Michael McGlinchey extracting revenge via a 2-1 victory over Central Coast Mariners, before previewing this weekend's fixture with help from the Squadron's Grant Furner. In other news, Tommy Smith breaks his sabbatical and Exodus Team Wellington claim the first silverware of the season.

They had a guest fan on a couple of podacasts ago. The bloke who went to the preseason game in the Gong.

And people ripped into him...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

On a serious note, I did think about doing a 'know you zoners' section where I'd interview someone in the zone at halftime. But it would have required to be sober so I flagged it.

As an aside, why no Patrick and Wilso? I see they are 'moderators'. Are they not part of YF or am I missing something. I find their posts to be relatively common sensical so would they not add to it or is that too many folk and opinion to put into an hour

Grumpy old bastard alert
