Joel Griffiths Goals 14, Attempts on Target 40, being a return of 35% when he was on target, pretty f**king good.
Goals 14 Attempts overall 75, being a return of 18.6% which is still bloody good a 1.86 goals for every ten shots.

Reinaldo Goals 9, Attempts on target 29, return of 31%, Total attempts 66, being a return of 13.6%

Shane Smeltz 9, Attempts on 19, return of a whopping 47%, Total attempts 36, being a return of a whopping 25%, 1 in 4 shots were a goal.

Travis Dodd 5, Attempts on 20, 25%, Total Attempts 56, 8.9% sh*te.

Danny Allsopp 7, Attemtps on 21 33%, Total attempts 46, 15.2%

This is good, for Smeltz, but as a team are we not creating enough chances and relying on such a great conversion rate for Smeltzy?

Look how few shots he's taken though? Which is in keeping with the fact that he's sometimes frustrating to watch pissing about with the ball on the edge of the box trying to get a great chance, and ending up losing the ball - rather than just smashing it towards goal.

Still, good work.

Not just Smeltz to score, the rest of the team have to get into the act and consistantly.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I think they have partially solved this problem because Leo is an immediate upgrade in the ball delivery department from the right/left flank.

They have identified they need an attacking midfielder and a strike partner so they are on the right track to improve that

I knew smeltzy never shot! Had said that all season...was very frustrating at times. But yeah when he did shoot he generally scored! 1 in 4 shots being a goal is an amazing stat

Allegedly

We've got the best striker in the league!!!!  We've got the best striker in the league!!! We've got etc, etc

Take a bow Mr 47% Smeltz.
And that from crap service from the right plus a midfield that changed everyweek plus your support playmaker(Felipe) going walkabout  from mid season plus your co-striker old enough to get seniors discounts(sorry Vaughn).

biggest gripe with smetlzy was the lack of shots he put up, as the stats show when he did he scored quite often, almost 50% is wicked - shows two things, he has a great unstoppable shot or he selects when he can score and pulls the trigger then. I think I'd rather he was less cautious and shot more often. Perhaps having a younger mopre aggressive striker alongside him would help.

Queenslander 3x a year.
