Evening alllooking forward to this one.

8pm kickoff at EnergyAustralia Stadium in Newcastle. Winner through to Grand Final v CCM at SFS next Sunday.  If level at 90 minutes, extra-time then penalties.  The away goals rule doesnt apply.

Team news:

Queensland: Danny Tiatto returns from suspension, but only makes the bench.

Newcastle: Denni is back into the squad at the expense of Jason Hoffman, but also only makes the bench.

Newcastle

Covic

Durante- North-Thompson

Elrich-A.Griffiths-Musialik-Holland-DApuzzo

J.Griffiths-Bridge

Queensland

Reddy

Packer-Moore-Ogenovski-McLoughlin

McKay-Marcinho-Murdocca

Kruse- Reinaldo-Zullo

A number of players from both sides are on a yellow card from the finals series, meaning another tonight will see them miss the GF next week.  They are

Queensland: Andrew Packer, Josh McCloughan, Massimo Murdocca, Matt McKay and Sasa Ognenovski.

Newcastle: Andrew Durante, Matt Thompson, Noel Spencer and Jin-Hyung Song.

Miscellaneous trainspotting:

Both Newcastle and Queensland are looking to make their first ever A-League Grand Final.

In nine previous A-League encounters, the home team has never won a Newcastle Jets v Queensland Roar match. In five previous clashes at EnergyAustralia Stadium, Queensland have won three with the other two matches (both played this season) ending level.

Newcastles loss last week broke a four-match winning streak.  Queenslands win last week was their first in five matches.

Queensland have twice had penalties saved by the Jets Ante Covic this season with Simon Lynch and Craig Moore the culprits.  A Queensland spotty tonight would almost certainly be taken by Sasa Ognenovski.

Newcastle are the youngest team in the A-league with an average age of 23 yrs and 338 days.

The secret for Queensland is to score first, because Newcastle havent lost after scoring the opening goal in the last two seasons. In fact, they have won 18 of 21 matches after scoring the first goal over the past two seasons.

I can loan you a tape of Ipswich beating Barnsley in the play-off final a few years back by way of consolation...

I'd rather talk about the Ipswich Barnsley game.  One of my favourite sporting memories of the last few years!

Thank god Cockerill is commentating this match...he's okay.  Harper's a knob mind you.

Shocking miss.  Open goal, twenty feet over from about 5 yards.

nice ball by kruse, in an otherwise error ridden game (a few nerves out there it seems)

haha why does that not suprise me.... marcinho is even worse than reinaldo, terrible finisher.. makes u wonder how they can play professionally, do it every day yet manage to steal a miss from the jaws of a goal nearly every week.. so poor

that what made reinaldo's goal last week so damn annoying, the 1 time he gets it right, in true aussie commentating fashion they spend the rest of the game talking like he's god of finishing...

If it stays like this Queensland will get a red.

To expand on tigers statement, Ognenovski off getting a head wound bandaged when Newcastle scored.

hard to get a lot of joy from either of these teams scoring, a red card for either side would raise a bigger cheer in this house

be interesting to see what farina tells his lot to do and if Taj Minnecon gets a run

Yeah, Qld radio commentators are making this sound like the game of the century. Wind went out of their sails there at the end though.

THAT was the best moment of the match - Moore has completely poleaxed Joel Griffiths.  Well worth a yellow card

Cant agree moore, he was never any good. Thought after he established himself in the team he could  just kruse the rest of the season....
