This became a bit of a fiesty argument last season, personally I feel that paston has been better in preseason so far, but moss was definately number 1 last season.

Can only go by last season,as have only seen the one preseason training way back.

So have to go with Moss...Paston had his chance last season and disappointingly blew it

Allegedly

The final choice will come down to the cup matches, I've voted Moss because he should naturaly be given first go after last season.

Whoever is second choice keeper (and I suspect it'll be Paston) should move club in my opinion.  We don't want NZ's top two keepers at one club where only one can play.  Sell them to a good club where they'll get games week in week out and as our 2nd place keeper get a young up and coming Kiwi. loyalgunner2008-06-30 20:00:17

Moss has proved he's No.1 so its up to Paston to take it back...

But then what happens when our no.1 gets injured and this young bloke isn't good enough to step up? We don't play enough fixtures where we can blood a new keeper which is why the young keepers in the A-League don't get much time and we released Spoonley, what we need is a decent keeper from anywhere as a back-up if we were to do away with Paston.

Also, would Paston want to go? He's right under Ricki's nose here and that will put him in better stead than if he ends up a benchwarmer anywhere else.

Get a young keeper who isn't anything on Moss yet but is still more than capable to be called up when required.

Nope.

I would've put Spoonley into the category I just described, but I doubt that they'd adopt my idea in the first place and then take Spoonley back lol.  Other than him I don't know any young up and coming keepers.

Remember there is the injury cover signing that clubs can make.  Although that wouldn't guarentee someone descent is available

Well his blogging career aint going nowhere fast so he must be on the lookout for work.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I wouldve let one go and kept Spoonley personally, he's a good talent and should be developed further.

Moss is clearly the best keeper, I expect he'll keep the number 1 spot.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Matthew Nash? Plays for APIA in the NSW Premier League. Played one game for Sydney FC I think and had a blinder.

With the transfer rules as they are, an NZ short-term keeper is unlikely.  I reckon you would see Roy Bell or Rhys Keane who already play in Sydney come in as backup...

Roy Bell was my thought as the U23 Keeper. Playing in Oz with Old and Costa.

Got to have someone willing to stay on the bench tho, Paston may have accepted his fate?

At this stage, it's Moss' job to lose.

It has to be Moss for the first few weeks, unless Paston plays exceptionaly in the Pre-season cup then Moss should be selected on the basis of his performance last yearsimon_hampton2008-07-01 18:04:30

o no here we go again..

paston probably wont play much in the preseason cup as he is not our first choice anymore, simple. Moss was it last year and is this year, and will take a lot to lose it.

i don't know if this has been posted on another thread but how would you feel if your #1 was given to someone else while you're at the club eh??

I hope ricki gives both paston and moss decent runs in the preseason cup

The No.1 Keeper should get it, be it either Patson or Moss.

Just my opinion but I reckon Mr Herbert has fingers in two pies. If NZ are playing and it clashes with Phoenix schedule he can let Paston go play for fun and keep Moss for the money games. He still has control either way. Not silly.

But there's no conflict (or alterior motive) managing both the only NZ professional football team and the AW's, surely.

But I voted for Moss, without hesitation. Cracking season last year. 'Nuff said.
