Adam Kwasnik, Central Coast's most successful Hyundai A-League goal poacher, could be on his way back to the Mariners in time for the club's tilt at Asian Champions League glory.

The attacking midfielder spent three successful seasons at the Mariners before joining Wellington just before the start of the Pre-Season Cup this season.

Kwasnik went to New Zealand hoping to be a part of the first Kiwi team to make the Hyundai A-League finals.

While Wellington had a much-improved season and only just missed the finals, Kwasnik was not at his best and spent much of his time coming off the bench.

The Mariners, who were disappointed Kwasnik left, are keen on him returning to the coast.

Central Coast coach Lawrie McKinna is a big fan of Kwasnik's attacking style and believes he would be a hit against Asia's best.

"We're interested in having a chat with him and hopefully we can work something out shortly," McKinna said.

"We've asked New Zealand if we can speak to him and that's where things are placed at the moment. We notified them on Tuesday."

"We wanted to keep Adam but he decided to try his luck in New Zealand. At this stage we're keen to get him for the Champions League and the next A-League season."

"He fits into how we play and is the most successful scorer in the club's history."

Kwasnik's possible return would be a huge boost for the Mariners following the departure of Mile Jedinak to Turkey last year.

"One of the best parts of his game is how versatile he is," McKinna said.

Kwasnik battled to cement a starting position during the first season of the Hyundai A-League but in seasons two and three was one of the club's key performers.

He played a major role in the club's ACL qualification with several vital goals last campaign.

Probably best for both parties, but will Kwassy ever get back to his best? His confidence must be low.

I hate when they call us New Zealand. Last time I looked we were not the National Team. We are Wellington.

We should keep him. They say he played 12 games and didn't score. Most of those games were for 10 minutes to go scenarios. I like him as a player, I think with our main man having gone, next season would be Adams to show some form.

Tony - KEEP him!

Dont you have to just tick boxes for what he can do or is it like complex forum coding etc?

And DKP, notice his group - Backroom Yoof, not Backroom Staff

Yes, but I could have easily ticked the wrong boxes.

If Tony's only comment is about them using NZ I think we can assume he'll be back playing for his mentor Lawrie McKinna by March.

Really, he was never given a fair go.

Tony P, does Ricky have his favourites at training? I mean he should of dropped Ferrente and brought kwasnik/plodder into the mix to switch it up a bit and try something new. but oh know famous Riki Herbert didn't want to drop the worst performer in the team all year.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Uhh..
He probably only has favorites because they have been the ones who have done well in training.
That effects how the team is chosen too sb.

Ricki doesnt just go.
"Oh. karl, you can play cos you have that funny chant that makes me chuckle. Who let the dodd out? haha, i like it. and uhh.. Smeltz, you can play cos you have a Z at the end of your name instead of an S and that also makes me chuckle.
Moss. i like moss, ive got some in my garden its very soft under foot.
Siggy, I like your hair, you can play.
Hmm.. Muscat. your last name reminds me of meerkats and I saw some at the zoo on monday and they were so cute!
You are in"

Why when we were succesful with that formula would you want to "try something new"?

I really am dispairing with the level of debate on here at the moment

All I think is that Adam is a good long term prospect for us, he's 26 and plenty of goals left in him. He didn't get a real chance because of a certain Mr Smeltz being on fire (except the last three games). Bt now that Shane has gone, Here's a chance for the club to see the best of Adam.

Of the two training sessions I attended, there were no favourites. Herbert is not that sort of guy. He has definate ideas, some of whcih havent worked this last season but you can be sure he will review himself and make the effort to improve, just like he expects from the team.

I'd call the secondhalf of the season a success.

Coaching isn't about trying things.  It's about having a plan and executing it.  Every week during the season we hear oh "why don't we try playing so and so here" or try this or try that.  You don't experiment with a professional team.  What happens if you try playing Kwasnik and it doesn't work.  Next week do you try playing vaughn coveny at Centre Back?  Have you played the game?  Let's just make the season a 21 match series of individual experiments where we rotate through every possible combination of players in our squad.  Jesus wept...

Kasnik had plenty of chances and didn't deliver in our system.  He's not good enough for us to change the system around to accomodate him.  Ok, that didn't work out, let him go back to CCM which will be a good result for both sides.
