Victory & Sydney have another round of ACL games over the next two weeks, so gonna keep struggling. Win the last 4 games and we could sneak in and be the most undeserving play off team ever.

Win all four games and there's a 95% chance we make the playoffs. Win three and draw one, and that drops to 55%. Anything less than that and the odds become miniscule.

considering we have only gotten 1 point from 18 from ccm and the jets and did it the hard way getting our points from teams higher up the ladder - I would say we would be totally deserving.

Is that the updated odds, or the same from a couple of rounds ago?

Of the 4 games remaining, winning away against Manchester Melbourne City should be enough to give us a Serious Contender title.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

No point being a serious contender by beating Melb City if we lose our other three games though...

Except the sydney game was the start iof our unbeaten streak that will go to early next year, wih a short side trip to winning the league.  You watch this space, we will be the champions.

If (big if) we win the next two games, or come out with a win and a draw even then those last two home games against Victory and Sydney will be interesting. Both may be fighting to be in the top 6, and both have ACL commitments.

Our Achilles heel is consistency. If were consistent then winning against MCY away means the other games should be in the bag (MCY is the team hardest to beat in our remaining games).  I see them as pacesetters with no other distractions.

Every second week the Phoenix restore (false) hope of making the top Six. Oh the pain to be a Phoenix fan.

Last home game is against WSW, not SFC, so no ACL. But how great would it be to be the ones that deny them the Premiers Plate

Odd, I read it as Sydney - oh well, false hopes and all. Still Victory could be interesting. WSW could be playing for the top as well.

Since the Phoenix's results against the two worst (imho) teams in the league - Jets and CCM have been so abysmal, I wondered what the table would look like if all results against those two were removed?

Surprisingly for the Nix, not too much really. It does show up how poor Sydney are though.

Brisbane Roar 23 11 5 6 30
Western Sydney 23 11 5 6 29
Adelaide United 23 11 6 6 28
Melbourne City 23 11 5 7 26
Perth Glory 23 9 4 9 25
Wellington Phoenix 23 6 4 12 24
Melbourne Victory 23 9 6 7 23
Sydney FC 23 7 9 6 15

That's food for thought Harry.

If Victory and Sydney are below us on your table, that means they did not win against other teams than Jets and CCM. That is neither here nor there - that is their performance this year. But we did not win just against Jets and CCM in your table.

In my books that is really some evidence for our particularly soft mindset that we cannot win against those two teams (Jets and CCM). So, are we the perennial underdogs, punching above our weight against better teams, but falling flat on our faces when teams with poorer skiils but a stronger mental resolve take the field against us?

I think that the way we play works better against teams who are also trying to play more attacking football. We really struggle against deep defences and counterattacks because our attackers are small and like space to run into and our defenders are slow and get caught out on the break

Fair enough, then would that be a sufficient reason to give Watson a contract (assuming no-one else is coming here) ?

He would certainly be all that Krishna is not, maybe except similar speed.

Using Watson as the target man would leave us with a lot of choices  of whom to feed off him. Kishna, Powell and even Wee Mac all play slightly different styles which us a good mix to have. Watson could actually be a key player unless we bring in a 6'4" center forward.

I know your being facetious but I wonder, if we took every single players wage over the entire history of the nix and combined them together if we could just about afford him.

If we'd built on last season this would have been the year to win it. The big teams misfiring and everyone being so close.
