Win by 14 or more, we'll go 3rd.

Seriously though, Queensland away, I'll be happy with a point.

That 6-1 drubbing against Adelaide really hurt our GD.

In future...can we please limit our losses to 1 or 2 nil.

I say tackle him in the face.

Yeah but its also our inability to score them that hurts us just as much, even the Jets have managed more than us.

true, only 3 teams have a better defence than us

but the Mariners - who have let in as many as us - are top, partly because they  have scored almost twice as many

not looking good where going to need 3 wins at least

Yeah. If w drew today we would have 1 more point and roar 2 less. So now the gap to top for is 3 points (which we have to exceed given our poor goal difference), wheras a draw would have kept it at 1 point. SO we need to make up those 2 points somewhere which will be turning a draw away at Melbourne or Sydney into a win. TOugh task.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

exactly, which is why we need to exceed that difference, so need to hit abut 10 past newcastle at the ring on the 4th!

For us to get into the top 4 we are going to have to play a lot better than last nights poor effort.

Even if we don't make the top 4 there is still lots to play for this season. To finish 5th would be great...considering the crap start we had to the season. Sydney and Perth are right on our tails. If we don't pick up plenty of points in the last 4 games then 7th is apossibility.....that would be considered a disaster.....barely better than the year before.

id be happy with 5th but i would be slightly disapointed but if we come 7th or worse ill be pis*ed off

if we beat Newcastle and Sydney that gives us 28 points, which puts us in third as either Melbourne of Q'land aren't gaining point tonite!

CCM play the top three in their final three games, we play Sydney,Melb and Adelaide. Provided we don't lose, top four is very possible.

Queenslander 3x a year.

I can't help but think we blew it by letting Queensland get that late equalizer :( Still, 2 wins and 2 draws might just see us squeak in

Well 7th or above would set a new record for a NZ club in Australian competition. The highest either of the Knights or Kingz got was 8th. Something to be proud of whatever the final outcome.

I'd be ecstatic with 4th, but 5th would represent a good season for us - great progression from 8th and only our second season.

Who to want to win tonight.... tough call. Anything but a draw works for us.

Tough call alright, but I guess we want anyone the Phoenix still has to play to get as few points as possible.  On that basis, a Queensland win would be best....

I've got to say it is going to be very tough for us to make the top 4 now.  Especially after Central Coast won the other night.  They now have 6 points on us (effectively 7) so while it is possible they won't pick up any more points (Queensland (H), Melbourne (A), Adelaide (H) to come) I feel we really are going to wonder 'what if' from the recent Perth and Queensland games.

I actually think Queensland are our best bet to steal the position of for the top 4.

They and Melbourne both have 5 games left but 4 of them are at home for Melbourne and only 2 for Queensland (Sydney and Perth with Melbourne Central Coast and Adelaide away).

The biggest thing though (obviously), is that we need to win as many games as we can and there is no reason why we can't (and shouldn't) win the next 2 and get a point off Adelaide.
In fact if that doesn't happen we are no chance anyway.

My projected )and perhaps a bit hopeful) points table:

Queensland to lose 5 straight? Can't see it.
Although after tonight, 1 down, 4 to go

haha, yep that's the hope :)  They do have injuries and a run of 3 games in a week or so with the Adelaide catch up game so it's possible?!?...

They finish up with Sydney and Perth at home though so hmmmmm.  Hopefully the Sydneysiders just wanna f**k their brothers up and Perth play a blinder (even a draw would be alright for us)

at the end of last season, i would have taken 5th for 08/09

and that might be how it winds up

obviously still a chance for top four, a ban for Tiatto (as News says - not likely)  might help our cause

as would a few goals tomorrow night

3 or 4 in one game? We're averaging one a game at the moment.  We'll go 1-0 up and desperately try and hold on for the rest of the game I bet.

Smetlzy's fairly due I would have thought. Hasn't scored two in a game for a while. Be good to see Leo get in the habit of getting on the score sheet too now he's broken his duck. Or Daniel make a point with style. Where was he at the end against Queensland? the essential part of our game plan was missing!

The last time was against Newcastle in round seven - both penalties.

Interesting we have the 5th best home form (4th equal with Perth) with 15 points and 6th best away form with 7 points. Our away form proably needs to get better for next season.

Our top 4 aspirations are definately closer to 'improbable' now because of the loss to QLD. Can't see us beating Adelaide or Melbourne.

i sort of agree valeo but stranger things have happened,by the time we play adelaide and melbourne they may of already sorted out between themselves who is first and second on the table and may play slightly differently than normal, having watched adelaides last couple of games they are a very boring team that pass the ball around they do however have some very good players that can turn a game very quickly in their favour
