Someone on the Sydney board is complaining that they are in fact top at present.  The argument is that league rules rank teams as follows:

a) Points
b) Goal difference
c) Goals scored
d) Points in games between tied teams
e) Goal difference in games between tied teams
f) Fewest red cards
g) Fewest yellow cards
h) Coin toss.

He reckons its even down to e) but Sydney are ahead on f).

Pretty trivial right now, but could matter come January.

At 4 Kings last night the Sydney fans  were harping on that they were top of the league when the tards lost (in fact they broke out into chant on the back of me throwing some chants in their direction) so I was quite amused to find they are not first (even if it is wrong)

a good round  for us so far

the two draws have tightened up the middle of the table and Melb have helped squash the Perth false-dawn

Would've looked great if we had won but that shows how close this league is. Still too close to Perth.

today was potentially a -point game. glad we didn't lose. those extra points we would be chasing can make a huge difference later on.

After round 7 last year we had 8 points not 6 points.

The difference from last was a drawn game and not a won game.

Also this time last year in October all the games were losts.

So since we are playing with more heart I and hoping for a result against CCM in the next game 19th October. It's an away game again.

LOL at Perths defence. Yeah, a win would be good. Especially by a few goals to get that GD back to even.

I agree, once we have that a positive GD, we be looking at sneaking in the top four all of a sudden. Such a close league, an upset can swing both ways.

I think I would prefer a Perth win.

That way Sydney lose out on there GD. Perth aren't within a win of us so it wouldn't effect us.

And if Perth did win we would only be 3 points off Syney at 3rd place

A good run for us, a fine day on Sunday and we might get a decent crowd show up now. What a weekend, two games at the Stadium. Thank God I have the weekend off and can make them.

Climbing up the ladder would be real nice and only 5 points off Numero Uno too!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

But we were never even close to beating them in that game.

I mean, I know they're not a great side, but it's not as if we were desperately unlucky not to win that one.

We're playing a lot better now, so let's focus on continuing to pick up points (starting with Clogs next Sunday) rather than going through ifs and what ifs.

Or bottom if we lose.  Let's not get too carried away just yet...  We need to beat Queensland and win well and then keep doing it week in week out.
