f*ck me, another win slips from our grasp and we are out of the top 6.....9 draws, if we'd turned 4 of those into wine, we'd be sitting on 29 points a safely second!

the end of story you note, will occur at the end of the season

i'm not bothered by the number of draws right now because we are still in with a resonable shout for the play-offs

- hopefully i'll be as unconcerned going into the last game of the regular season

(hope our away/home games don't cost us)

You may be right but our failure to turn draws into wins could well cost us a play off place.

If we don't win next week, we can just about forget it I think.

we coulda had a home semi if we hadnt had so many last 10minute draws .
we are one point better than we were after 17 rounds last season and 3 points off last years 21 round total.

Yeah im quite prepared to judge our season at the end of it. At the moment, all those draws mean that we're at least performing well (on the pitch, not really results wise),and we should be better off than we are based on how we're playing. These performances give me confidence and hope that we can make the playoffs come the end of the season.

Am obviously unhappy to be outside of the 6 at this stage, but do believe we still have a shot at making it. Itd be a different story if we were playing poorly and in 7th,but we're not. If we miss out come the end of the season however,I will be very very unhappy

The most frustrating thing, as I've said time and time again, is that the team is CAPABLE of getting better results, and the 6-0 v GC and 3-0 v Newcastle showed what can happen with a little bit of belief and adventure.

If the team was littered with crap players then my expectations would be lower.

Yeah agreed. Its frustrating as all hell. Playoffs at the end of the season is a must with the team we have.

Our squad has so much potential, agreed the 6-0 and 3-0 wins showed that. In my opinion our squad is top three potential, probably behind Sydney and Melbourne. Things are frustrating, but I'll hang in there, big game against Sydney this weekend. Can't wait for it.

Why do people keep making this sort of declaration? "This is a must win week" is the most overused phrase in this thread. (Was the season even a month old when it was first used?) If we don't win next week, the season is not over. There's still 9 games to go after next week!

We're playing Sydney, currently second, next week in a match that we're giving up home advantage for. Given our record away from home, I am not confident that next week will see us win. Fingers crossed that I'm wrong.

This isn't a manager-sacking moment.  At present, the demand should be to strengthen the squad with a striker and/or creative central midfielder.  Ricki acknowledges that weakness in the squad and has been looking at ways to resolve it.

Release him at the end of the season "to concentrate on the All Whites" if necessary.

This.  It's my most hated piece of sporting opinion because it is almost never a must win when it is used.  It usually isn't even a 'lose this and we are in trouble' match this week.  With the table so compressed, it will only take a couple of wins on the trot to be right back in it.

Well, for the very reason you mention, I think it's a valid point I made. How many more games at Westpac for us? 2 only? This is why I am thinking we really need a result v Sydney.

I appreciate it's not a 'must win', but we 'must' start winning soon if we are to make the play offs, time is running out.

Still, it's not many 'real' home games left when you think about it, and considering we've only won 3 home games so far, you've got to wonder if we are going to accumulate enough points to make the play offs.

Yeah, I got a bit of a shock when I realised we only have three left. But I'm confident we'll get in the playoffs so we'll see the Phoenix a bit more at the ROF.

It's looking pretty clear that Melbourne and Sydney will be top two. It's going to be very touch and go to find out the rest though. I think the last round of competition will be very close, with most teams in with a shout.

That goal difference is going to hurt NQF.

Except for when we play Sydney next week and then Melbourne on Australia Day, Sydney winning and Melbourne winning games from here on in are not necessarily bad for us, as it deprives the other 7 teams of points.

Any draw in games not involving us, Melbourne or Sydney would also help a great deal.

Ultimately if we get ourselves a spot in the top 6, anything can happen, as this season's results have proven. I believe this is all we should be focussing on.

Thing is, we still control our own destiny!

I really cannot believe GCU keep winning, they are garbage. Worry if Perth win tonight start to see a split but I guess while everyone can beat everyone things will remain close.

Not ideal, but only three points and a few goals off 4th place. Still, 4 wins in 17 is pretty average.
