Leilei's Future

if you ask me Leilei should start to play some proper attacking football and show some of the talent we all know he has but yesterday he looked mediocre especially compared to Ferrante and I'm beginning to agree with Ross that if he wants to be in Europe he should do us all a favour and leave now however I wouldn't have been as ruthless and blatant as Ross in sayng it.

So I believe we should either let him go or else get him to move on to Europe if thats where he wants to be.

I'd tell him that if he doesn't perform he'll be on the bench and you don't get big European contracts when you are on the bench for a pacific island team.

well i find it kind off strange that he thinks its as if he can win a European contract just by being here no matter how well he plays.

yea, if you cant perform in the A league you definitely wont be able to in Europe. I still think we should keep him until the end of the season when his contract runs out

i know he only played a bit for the Knights, but boy did he get involved. He just seems to be coasting this year, frustarting as we all know he is capable of huge things

...which is what Chinese footballers always tend to do and is why their national team constantly underachieves. Comfy lifestyle, earning what in China is a decent wage, no real concept of fulfilling ones potential, so they cruise. This is a massive stereotype I know but is endemic in China and that is the footballing culture he has come out of...

Hmm, why did he get such big raves when coming here? To look good in the NZK wasn't that hard.. (no offence fan base)

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

His not even that good for europe. Besides if he wants to go to europe then he HAS to play good.
Permalink Permalink

I think there may be a chance that his goal of getting into europe in the near future has been a bit misinterpreted. Surely he's not thick enough to think that he can get selected playing like he is now. C'mon Leilei, wake up and realise that a flourescent yellow tick on your shoes does not impress anyone into investing in a stropmeister

In his defence he didn't just look good in comparison with Knights players (of which there were good ones like Salley, Marcina, and Emblen), but he looked good against opposition also.

I personally think Gao's position is more a traditional left wingers role based on what I saw at the knights and what I have seen this year. Its just we don't use traditional wingers in the game anymore and expect the left half/left back to cover that part of the touchline making him largely a spare part in our game plan because he is not a half. He doesn't track back or defend. Agent 472008-11-03 22:27:37

A lot of sense in this. He was classy at the Knights, and somehow it isnt working here.

Find a way to make it work, Ricki

I'm not sure why Gao is copping so much of the blame. He created arguably our best chance of the game. That's his role imo.

That's half the problem, yes he does take great touches, runs at defenders and cann create, but I don't want to see a player who is capable of these things do spend most of the game drifting around doing sh*t all and occasionally throwing in a fit on the floor. I'd love to see him score a european contract it meant he's done it with classy Nix performances.

Think he should f**k off. Couldn't make it in MyPa. Could do it here, but won't try

Crap, no way was he classy at the Knights, all he did was beat a few players down the wing once or twice like he should be able to do, that dosent make him classy.

I told everyone he was a bad signing and now he's proving me right.

A dog with a bone :)

Someone make a banner in Chinese that says -

"Gao, whilst we love your occasional moments of brilliance, we feel disappointed in your apparent lack of enthusiasm for tracking back, winning your own ball, and giving your all for the whole 90 minutes. Please lift your game- we really want to love you!
regards, Yellow Fever."

It might have to circle the RoF.

you culd always shorten it to  - play well or go home in chinese, he'd be the ony one to understand it!

Maybe lei lei needs strength and conditioning training? You can tell in the way he plays. He doesnt need skill or ball training.

I'm not adding anything to the whole Gao thing I know, but it pissed me off no end seeing him get congratulatary back and hand slaps from the bench when he came off. Such a lazy display deserved no kudos whatsoever. And for Gao to be wearing that self-satisfied "I've done my job for the day" expression was an insult.

To be fair he might be angling up European opportunities with a highlight tape that doesn't include recent Nix performances.  His agent could be explaining them away by blaming the rest of the squad.  Who knows.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Like his highly sucessful Finnish soujourn where he only played 4 matches in a season.

It wont be easy to find highlights. Euro clubs aren't so dumb that they'll take him on the strength of a few (failed) shots on goal and a nice dribble here and there.

I wonder how fair it was of Aloisi to make that unsubstantiated claim. How do we know it's true? Innocent until proven guilty, surely.

I reckon Bertos has to give him some tips.

Gao is a very skilled player. It's just annoying that he barely ever uses it. You saw when he beat 2 players and shot he has the ability.

I think some people are being a little harsh on him, I don't see a problem with him aiming to go to Europe at least he has some ambition, although given his last performance I'd drop him to the bench and start Daniel.
I'd be more concerned with getting rid of Mulligan who must be earning a fair bit (probably more the Sigmund ) and has a two year contract, he was utter garbage when he played. Coveny should also be let go he was woeful against Perth.

Coveny is woefull against everyone, he is a striker and I cannot remember him having a single shot this season.

No wait, I remember him coming off the bench and heading wide once, at home.

Reminds me, as I posted the other night, of a recent Nix player who used his time at the Nix to regain what little fitness he had, happily took the cash, did f**k all on the park while he was here and was, thankfully, offloaded after a season.

I was happy when we signed Gao 'cos I thought he is/was a decent player but his performances have been diabolical. Waste of a shirt. Tell him to piss off and give a start to somebody who might actually do something

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Maybe he thinks the name "Yellow Fever" is a racist taunt!

I think it is a bit harsh to single him out though, he clearly has the talent and he is far from alone in being inconsistent the same could be said of Daniel, Kwasnik and Bertos.

herman. Out of a team of players who dont seem to be trying at all...he seems to be trying the least. That and hes admitted to using us as a stepping stone (like El**ch),in midseason, when we're coming last,so obviously doesnt give a sh*t about the club

Daniel - Not getting enough game time to make any judgement on his form
Bertos - Been injured. Did more in the game against Perth than Gao's done all season
Kwasnik - Agree he's been very disappointing but still think he's being played out of position

What is his position then?

He didn't work up front, and did so-so sometimes on the wing...

Daniel - Agree with you

Bertos - Can't judge has had one start but has looked good, was our best player Vs Perth by a mile (followed up by McKain)

Kwasnik - How has he been played out of position? He's been played at LM which is his main role.

Half-chopped and feeding the pokeys or the TAB's somewhere along Courtney Place seems to be his most common position.

Not even close.  Watch the second goal and see how it could have all been stopped by a little effort from Leo. He gets tackled by Sekulovski and then stands with his arms out appealling to the ref as Sekulovski moves inside and turns out.  If Leo had looked to regain the ball they may well have never got the break.

I'm a big fan but he disappointed me hugely there.
