Leo is a quality player, but so is Noah. Leo is a younger and
probably slightly better attacking player these days, but there
isn't much in it and Noah can play absolutely anywhere. The
only spot I don't think he's played for the Kingz/Knights was
keeper.

All the Waitakere players looked B grade yesterday. I wouldn't
want any of them to be signed.
To be honest, according to the two OCL matches, the old Knights
could beat Waitakere U easily, so why should we want any of them?

still in the dark over the final make up of his squad, Smith said
New Zealand pair Leo Bertos and Jeremy Christie may yet be lured
away from Perth to the Phoenix.
There is hope yet that we can get Leo.
Bertos would be a great signing and clubman!he tends to be a crowd
favourite wherever he goes and has the skill and flair out
wide that we need! The fact noah hickeys retiring because the
Phoenix offered him what he was worth (bugger all) and he cant find
another club will show you that bertos is way better! He was wanted
by a Greek Premier League outfit, Perth Glory and
The Pheonix.
I never saw them as one versus the other. There is no more
versatile player in New Zealand than Noah, and no better attacking
wide player than Bertos. I think we should have stretched to
sign both, but Noah obviously has had some issues with some of
those involved and decided that his priorities lie elsewhere.

Well with all hopes high, they can come, but will we be willing to

Thats where I am not to positive on this one is with him being
close to Perth's best player and him currently on contract they

Yeah its been said that 'its a possibility' that they could lose
him. ONLY if we payed the fee.
I agree that it seems unlikely Serepisos would pay out Bertos'
contract, but lets not forget that behind Rickis plan for the
Phoenix is his even greater masterplan for the All
Whites.....to qualify for Fifa WC 2010.
Ricki knows that for us to have a chance we must have as many
of our next best players (i.e not Nelsen, Killen etc) playing
together at club level. Bertos is the best of the next best and I
am sure will be high (if not top) on Rickis shopping
list.
