50 days to go until the Hyundai A-League season kick-off

Friday, 19 August 2011

Today marks only 50 days to go until the kick-off of the much anticipated Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season.

With the extended break between seasons to incorporate the new season window Football Federation Australia and Hyundai A-League Clubs have been busy at work to make sure season seven kicks off with a bang including a Grand Final replay in Brisbane between Champions Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners and the return of Qantas Socceroos Dario Vidosic and Jon McKain.

In Week One Melbourne Victory will host Sydney FC in the Big Blue while Adelaide United will make the trek to Perth Glory where new Glory recruit Travis Dodd will face the Club he called home since the beginning of the Hyundai A-League for the very first time.

Hyundai A-League season seven will bring football to more parts of Australia than ever before and sees the competition look to connect with more fans than ever before.

Five top changes to the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season

1. New season window giving fans the chance to fully embrace their Hyundai A-League Clubs in a clear space allowing footballs huge number of grassroots participants to transition from playing to actively supporting the game
2. New website and digital platform giving fans more access than ever before to their teams, players, coaches and continue to cultivate football in Australia these will include the Hyundai A-Leagues first ever official mobile sites and apps
3. New kits for all Clubs with some exciting changes in design and look for your team including new kits by adidas, Hummel and Puma
4. Family and fan friendly kick-off times with timeslots you can set your watch and calendar to 8pm Fridays, 5.30pm Saturdays and 5pm Sundays (all times AEST/AEDT)
5. A world first Hyundai A-League midweek marathon: 5 games, 5 cities, 5 time zones and over 10 hours of back-to-back Hyundai A-League action

With a number of Clubs doing excellent work in the transfer market in preparing their squads for the upcoming season, the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season will look to take another step forward on what was roundly regarded as the best football the Australian domestic competition has ever witnessed.

Club memberships are already 15% above the same time last year and going fast. For your chance to be part of your Hyundai A-League Club and for more information on the upcoming season visit a-league.com.au.

I hope there is an Android app as well as an iPhone app, the MLS app that sends notifications when goals are scored etc in realtime is awesome!

2.  Can't see it yet.
3.  Wonder if I could take Jnr Jnr to the 4-Kings for Sat/Sun away games... (or if there was a kid-friendly venue, someone mentioned MacD in Newtown? a few seasons ago).

Still think it is bollocks having such a short season...
Every other serious football comp on the planet can manage to run a league that runs for more than 5 months. Screw this not competing with AFL and the NRL. What about us fans.....everyone has just about forgotten what A-League football looks like. The players must be sick of endless training and playing warmup games. Give us a 9 month season!!!!

Its not a 5 month season - end is pushed back as far as the start has been (from middle of Feb to beginning of April). Thats about a 8 month season (including playoffs). Throw a cup tournament in next season (and hopefully a couple more teams in the next couple of years) and there's your 9 months.

40 / 38 days. Best thing about this season is that I move just before the start and will now have sky, so I can watch in comfort and not have to suffer dodgy internet streams

At the strip launch, i wanted to ask Siggy if he targeted Kruse on purpose, but he left before I could have a chat to him.
