Does that almost certainly mean that Mulligan and Ferrante are on the way out?

Mulligan will be.

Ricki seems to like Ferrante but I hope he is leaving.

Durante for 3 seasons and other two till end of 11/12. Good resignings. Durante is a big one. Now for McKain. It wont happen till end of season, and he's going to want to play cb so it is a big ask.

no we need a real number 10. thats a fact. I hope that any re signings we do make, are players who are starters. We can easily recruit bench warmers.

If we dont resign Ferrante or Mulligan, then along with Chen leaving, that will be three players out of here. That means we will have to sign a player of each position who will be an automatic starter or close to it, like Ifill and greenacre have been.

I dont think Diego should be re-signed if he is going to sit in the reserves.

I reckon you can add Hearfield to that, probably Caceras and I'd be surprised if Costa chose to stay.

Diego was signed for two years, he'd have to choose to leave.

I think Diego has a future if he can sort his sh*t out.

I like him

Where would costa go if he wasn't re-signed? NZFC or Aussie state league?

Greece, Serie B or C, other A-League clubs might be keen.  He'd earn more and get on the radar if he went to the Aus state leagues than the NZFC but he's an age where he needs to be making a next step and currently that doesn't seem likely to happen here.

Resigned and re-signed have completely different meanings. Almost had a mini heart attack!

Good stuff though.

Interested to see what Mckain does, he'd probably be the biggest loss coming off contract.

TVNZ .."Skipper Andrew Durante, winner of the Joe Marston Medal with the championship-winning Newcastle Jets in 2007/08, has extended his deal for another three seasons, while club foundation member Vince Lia and Malta international Manny Muscat will remain in Wellington till at least the end of the 20011/12 campaign." wow 20012, thats a long contract

I will not be at all sad to see the back of Caceres, Chen, Mulligan, Ferrante, and Costa.

Personally, I think Herbert has screwed Costa around for a long time so if he can get a reasonable contract elsewhere (not NZFC or Aussie state league) then he should go.  I have always supported Ferrante in the past but have lost faith in the guy.  His mo during movember, however, was by far and way the winner.

Caceres has shown glimpses of promise hasnt he? Give him a chance in my opinion.

Allegedly

I'd rather see Aaron Scott in the squad over Mulligan also because Scott seems like he would cost a lot less than Mulligan. If McKain does go then it will free up a lot of space to sign another attacking player. Please release Ferrante he's average at best! never rated the guy from the start.

I wont be sorry if ferrante leaves...he's done nothing at all for two seasons now

Muscat and Lia were seriously the first players we needed to re-sign after Durante and Leo? Strange. I doubt any other A-League clubs would be that interested in Manny or Lia - they are adequate players at best, lets be honest. Good to have in the squad but not players who i'd like to see starting for the next couple of season if we can help it.

Very happy with Dura signing up again, though. He's been fantastic for the big part of this season.

I would be very, very suprised if McKain stays. When no one is injured I don't see how you can fit him, Dura and Siggy in.

Yes, much better we re-signed Hooked On and Party all the time.

#1) Mark Paston (gk)
#4) Jon McKain
#10) Michael Ferrante
#13) Troy Hearfield
#14) Adrian Caceres
#16) David Mulligan
#20) Reece Crowther (gk)
#23) Costa Barbarouses (u21)

McKain is important but we all know he's going to have a think before doing it (although I get the impression he is not anti the idea).  Paston, maybe.

Who else is a priority assuming Costa will make his own mind up on where his future lies and Crowther is unlikely to be chased by any of the new sides, purely because he is unproven ?

Other than Paston these were the obvious three.

Yeah, fair enough points. Didn't see who was actually coming off contract at the end of this season.

I guess the question is could we find better replacements for both Lia and Muscat? I guess Mulligan is pretty much definately going so that opens up a spot at right back/utility anyway.

As we all know NZ strength at right back is limited, and across the A-league has some challenges with a number of converted Centre backs and midfielders having to fill in there.

So assuming the Aus sides can't find anyone to play there in Australia, and the fact that I can't think of anyone else in the league I'd rather have as a right back than Manny it comes down to whether you would use an import spot to find a better fullback.

Happy to see all three of those guys back. Manny is class. Easily one of the most consistent defenders in the entire league over the last two seasons. And I think he's going to get better.

And Manny is an International now too so his resale value has gone up!!!

Mulligan will be.

I can't see how leaving him out of the team and just getting on the bench means he likes him. I'd call him our best option in the circumstances

Vince said  "There are only six foundation members left and Im stoked that I can keep my career going here in Wellington."

Vinny, Paston, Lockhead, Timmy Brown, Ferrante, Daniel and Costa makes 7.  I was surprised at how much the squad had changed.  Plenty of midfielders in that 7.
