Line-up to play Salties

I reckon I'd be tempted to go back to 4 - 4 - 2 for this game. We've been undone in the last two games by the oppo thinking, hey they have three at the back, not well organised, so we'll bombard them with long balls just over their defenders and see what happens... I don't spose Ricky will agree, but..

Moss
Jezza Dodd Rees Locky
Elrich Ferrante Aloisis/Johnno Daniel
Smeltz Felipe

if Ricki is interested in retaining 3-5-2 for next season, then I'd expect he'd stay with that and might even give Plodder one more run at the back to check him out for next season as an option in a back 3

O'Dor certainly didn't grasp the opportunity on friday

I'd like to see Lia in there somewhere,

be interesting to see if aloisi is fit enough to get a run

They tore O'Dor apart the last time we played them over there, and that was with 4 at the back

I suspect that Old will be returning to the starting line-up at O'Dor's expense if we go 3 at the back again. I reckon 4 at the back might be a better way to go at the weekend but, as has been said, if Ricki wants to play with 3 at the back next season I don't see him changing it now.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Please no. Surely this is just a stop-gap measure given our lack of decent backs.

Well, unless we sign at least one decent fullback.......

probably the second time this season we've agreed Arsenal

i feel a lot more confident with a 4-4-2 line up (though Feverish would spend all season saying "Wingbacks, I tell you"

I suppose the fact that ricki started with 4-4-2 does suggest that it's his preference (given a good right back and a centre back alongside Dodd - shame Rees can't do both those jobs at once)

I'd actually forgotten about Lochead!!!  I'd probably go with a similar team to you Wolfy apart from putting Costa up front, Lia in midfield and Coveny on the bench.

(and I admit I haven't seen much of Costa, so apologies if he doesn't play up front!)

sorry got excited about having a chance to label players that should have never been signed let alone taking the field for the Phoenix.

Just a few changes:

                      Moss
           Rees-Dodd-Lochhead
       Elrich-Ferrante-Lia-Daniel
              Felipe/Aloisi
            Coveny-Smeltz

Subs: Paston, Aloisi/Felipe, O'dor, Barbarouses

Aloisi a possibility to start,  http://www.wellingtonphoenix.com/default.aspx?s=wellfc_news_item&id=20977, to play against his brother for the first time (though the wrong Aloisi sat out of soccerpoo training today with a tight hamy). If he does, straight swap for Felipe or Lia goes out wide replacing Elrich and Aloisi goes into the middle.

Pleased to see another 4 -4 -2 line-up.
I like Covs, but I don't think he and Smeltz have been combining well at all lately, so thats why I put Felipe up front, so hopefully his combination with Daniel will lead to some action. It'll be very interesting to see the line-up.

oh i didnt actually look at yours. same mindset. although I think Felipe is better coming from deeper- and we would prob end up with Smeltz alone then. And I have seen enough of Elrich. Doubt Ross will play. He only makes himself available for Beckham games (gags)

Feverish's back four looks reasonably solid, and it would be great to see Daniel and Lochy working together on the left like early in the season

I hope Ricki hasn't abandoned the idea of having Daniel and Felipe in his starting line up, so
i'd go with that part of feverish's wingbackless wonders

                                 Moss
Christie             Rees           Dodd              Lochy

                        Lia        Brown/Aloisi
Ferrante                                                     Daniel
                                  Felipe
                               Smeltzy

subs:Paston,Brown/Aloisi,Old,Covs

(whilst ricki has said he wants to look at options for next year, I'd rather have the points and avoid 8th place)

Elrich out wide, you have got to be kidding! he's been sh*te the last 2/3 games out there. Put Lia out wide and have Ross in the mids or Brown in there.

come on boys, you can't be serious with elrich on the wing, his poor crissing has cost us points in the last two games.

A back four would be a huge improvement. It allows Rees to play in his natural position (and hopefully not get caught out pace-wise like he has been). Lochhead does not work in a back 3 either - hence why Ricki has been trying to play him in midfield.
