This fulla is playing so well this season, great at left back, great in midfield,...
leading the player of the year race?

Potentially I would have to agree with this. I would say though that he is definitely the most underrated player in the entire a-league. A great find, being picked up from obscurity.

Yep worth a thread all to himself, Oi Oi. He was absolutely outstanding today. Some top performances from our lads but he was easily my MoM.

Has a great football brain as well.

Knows how to split Men so well and step out of trouble. So solid at LB

Yes, Manny was great tonight. Not sure if he was spot-on with his positional play though. Once or twice he seemed to be unaware of the player he should have been tracking. Can't blame him for being a bit rusty in the LB position I guess.

Also, I couldn't understand when he decided to play a long cross-field ball (which went into touch) instead of playing the easy short ball to Musa. That was a bit frustrating.

Apart from that, yeah, gets my vote for MoM.

That crossfield pass was so bad it made me laugh. Probably his only unforced error in the whole game though.

Has Manny signed re-signed with the Nix?
. I heard a few rumopurs that the Victory were interested in grabbing him. He has been an absolute "find".....considering he was picked up from State football in Oz. It would be good if we could find another gem like him....another specialist RB would be good

Don't know if he is signed up for next year. He has been all class and it'll be sad if he did leave, but I'd understand if it was to be back home with family.

Manny is my pick for player of the season at the moment - I can't recall a bad match from him (in a season where most players have been inconsistent)

he always gives 100% and has developed more calmness on the ball than he appeared to have early on (when i think he was just a bit too revved up in some matches)

he certainly gives us a bit of grit and closes down anything that moves

really hope we hang on to him and can use him in centre -mid for each game next season

He did that a number of times. Seemed reluctant to pass it to Musa when that was the easy option.
Musa came on in the 81st minutes and I'm not sure if he even touched the ball. Maybe once?

Here was me thinking i was the only one who had noticed that.Did appear tho it wasnt only him who was reluctant to give him the ball.

on one of those occasions (the cross-field ball fail)Manny told musa to get down the the line and the moose stayed on his heels (perhaps because Ricki had told him not to push on?) but - regrdless of the resons for Musa's lack of movement - Manny chose to put the ball elsewhere - fair enough in that case i reckon (shame about the quality of manny's particular back-up decision/pass)

for a guy plucked from some backyard footballing team - Green gully??? this guy has been amazing....shown true adaptability playing both sides of the defence and making the defensive midfield his own.....easily our most consistant player for the last 2 seasons.

Queenslander 3x a year.

"

RD: Youre yet to score a goal in the A-League, should we expect any wild celebrations if you hit the back of the net?

MM: Yeah for sure, I havent scored yet so hopefully it comes soon"

Sorry but I just can't imagine Manny going wild. His is a face that shows no emotion. Stoic always.

Manny in this game and I see Warner and Ifill playing qualifiers too hopefull all three come back injury free.
Good to see some competitive games for them to build fitness and confidence, although it must not leave many players back at base..........

http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110904/football/Malta-players-looked-afraid-in-early-stages-Buttigieg.383225

"Wellington Phoenix defender Manny Muscat, back in the fray after a lapse of one year, came through a difficult start to give a better contribution to the team, especially in the second half when he also made a couple of surging overlaps down the right.

Manny Muscat started badly like the rest of his team-mates but improved, especially in the second half, Buttigieg said."

Wonder if Manny would be tempted to try his luck in europe or stay in HAL in the current player market?

Would Manny be good enough to play in Europe?

Yes he would, but would he be a top flight player (in one of the top 12 or so leagues)? I think that'd be another story given players who have played A-League and moved into them.

Then again all it takes is one moment of brilliance or something to catch the eye of a coach and hes in...
