Maybe Yellow Fever can start a scholarship fund to kick start a youth player's career by getting him a trial with the Phoenix?

The winner also gets 30 pieces of silver and a knife that can only be used on the club's back.

Yes, when opposition coaches tell their players it's completely pointless attacking down the left because of him, I can see why he feels less involved in the game.

I fully support Manny playing DM once we have someone better to play alongside Dura, Siggy and Lochy. Which might take a while. (Satellite or Downey? Er, no.)

Actually, perhaps the Tards or the Jam Tards said to Manny "come play for us and you can be DM", and Manny replied "oh, right, like Marco got to play CAM?"Doloras2012-01-21 13:10:38

Hmm. Shades of Mini Judas?

Actually I like seeing Manny as a RWB (wing backs are the dogs bollox in footy). Last few games he's been better at this than disco ever was.

This is why over the off season we get ourselves a kick-ass foreign RWB with all the pace and mad crossing ability a fan could ask for, and then you put Manny in DM! Picture that and smile.

Great news for us. Staying loyal to a team that gave him his first chance at a professional career.

Why are we talking about Marco all of a sudden?

Haha. Manny was in the same position, just a bit older.

..AND wiser perhaps? Good point WPFC1.
The grass may look greener on that side of the ditch and with both Melbourne B's fighting for your services a younger (or more-managed) head might have been easily swayed. With Mrs Muscat and a family to consider in the very real present Manny has made a decision that gives them some security, where his loyalty and service will surely be appreciated right here. He won't be another newbie vying for the flash training facilities and battling the "stars" with even flasher egos for a match day position.

Great call Manny. The Moosecat Love Factor's reached an all time high in this family-with three of us with birthdays this week makes a nice pressie!

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

It's hardly a comparable situation though, is it? Easy to look back now and get all high and mighty, but up until 5 months ago the club's future looked in significant danger with the owner up to his eyeballs in debt, skeleton playing staff that wasn't being regularly paid, no money for strengthening the squad, and the non-playing staff that you could count on the fingers of one hand, including the coach.

Manny's decision has clearly not been an easy one for him even now, and consider how much change for the better there has been in the last five months - new owners looking to build success long-term, re-signings of key players and coaching staff (well, Ricki) and solid performance on the field. Maybe some people on here are too easily forgetting just how bleak the situation was last year.el grapadura2012-01-21 14:51:45

No, I suggest a remote detonating device/home detention bracelet as discouragement for future contenders..er, ah... no I dont.
 *breathes deeply*
I am prepared to concede-(finally!) that in contrast to the fabulously loyal Mr Muscat, M. Rojas (used to be good when he used to get a game)  was unduly influenced by the Melbin Big Footie Biz types, his Dad and the dire and shaky outlook for the Nix at the time. The writing was on the courtroom wall at the time or thereabouts as I vaguely recall.Lets not go back there. Anyway I can forgive Marco now and move on...
*Whew  *

But see what happens when a loyal bunch of lads who respect the gaffer and knuckle down can achieve against the odds? and who knows whats possible from here??
Respect.
Back on topic- plenty to be Black about next Sunday including a big chant for Manny for locking down with the Nix..lets hear it!! He may still be in Melbourne but we need to be sure he hears from us that we are happy he's staying!

Agree entirely El G.
All joking aside, I felt the same and typed my reply above and posted,.. then saw your comment.
I for one was scathing  in the Marco thread leading up to and after his leaving, full of vitriol about the lad for being so disloyal. Was no doubt a difficult decision but understandable in many ways with the benefit of time and hindsight.

If they offered him a 200% pay rise to sit on the bench, then I wonder who's laughing now.

Have to keep the feet on the ground.
We beat the last and 2nd last teams in the league. Were lucky against GGU but should have pounded the Jets.
If we play like we did in the 2nd half last night, then we have a reasonable chance.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Agreed, but if we manage scrappy wins away and convincing wins at home then I'll be very satisfied.

Thanks for staying Manny. The Nix gave you a lot but you gave us just as much in return. It would have been easy to sign for one of the Melboin teams but you showed us loyalty and we love you for it. You are y favorite Nix player, but don't tell anyone!!

This thread isn't about our form mirage. Manny has two more years to score the winning goal in the grand final.

I might taking a hit from others but Manny resigning provides me with more confidence than Ifill, the fact the Manny and Durante are some of the best in the league and play so regularly makes a big difference to our team.

Thank you Manny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes he did.  It was after Leo beat his man down the wing and put in a beautiful cross.
