Marquee player for next season

Sorry if this has been covered, but how long does Elrichs marquee contract last for? I'm hoping it ends at the seasons end so we can sign him as a normal player and get somebody else as a marquee.

Who would be a good and realistic target for next seasons marquee?

Barman, I'll have a glass of what he's drinking

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Why not have Darren Anderton while we're at it...

Three for me, and two for them.

HN must have an alarm set up and any mention of that name brings him a running.

The RSS feed is a wonderful thing... although to be fair, anything could have been posted between 9:00 and 10:30 as I was playing Futsal.

If Elrich is getting paid as a marquee, he's hardly likely to want a pay cut next season in order to come under the cap while someone else gets the marquee spot ...

OiOi does good work to draw HN out of position and sets the ball up nicely for Ballane to finish with a simple tap in

The thing is, he may not be getting much more as a marquee than the other top earners.

Just he's tagged as a Marquee to be beyond the cap.

Didnt he have a 1yr contract with a possible 1yr extension.Given he hadnt played for so long isnt it maybe being a little hasty in writing him off.

yep i think that's exactly what went down, he certainly raised a few eyebrows on here when he was first mentioned as a 'marquee'

John "The Wrong" Aloisi perhaps?

This wouldn't surprise me - most realistic suggestion to date.  Obviously there is a family tie here, but more importantly the Phoenix play a style of football conducive to a striker like Aloisi.  I think he would score more goals for us than for CCM - although swapping top for bottom might be an odd decision.  (Having said that it looks like the Melbourne squad are doing that without changing clubs!)

Yeah I heard a rumor the two wanted to play together... could be interesting. I'd like to see us get another strong striker to pair up with Smeltz next year, in addition to an improved backline of course...

Get the other Aloisi and the other Elrich. Become the club of brotherly love.

Or my personal choice, sign Landon Donovan

word on the street is Mulligan, Vicelich and Bertos are a big possibility for next season - vicelich could warrant a marquee slot?

Which street is that? Coro?  Shortie? Or La-La Lane?   <!-- Message ''"" */ //-->

If it's Coro St  maybe we could get Warren who's playing in Spain at the moment and he could bring his mum, Frankie, to replace our Frankie in aisle 21.

Question. Did Elrich ever play up the middle. His so called pace and a bit of bussling for the lose ball in the box may be worth a few. I dont think he put one good cross over last Friday. Mulligan and Bertos? Add  them to Daniel, Felipe, Brown and Ferrante and there are going to be so many balls going into the area that anyone with one league in the grave and the other on a banana skin should be able to score.

My theory is they call them marquee players cos generally they need a tent of a shirt to cover their ageing bulging guts.

Is it me or has Gullitt piled the weight on?  He must be a contender now he knows how good we are.

Just to the end of the season mercifully.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
