Any word on Marinovic injury ?

And Hemed. Didn't look like he had a concussion?, just a bleed.

That guy he clashed heads with came off looking in a shocking state after trying to carry on and headed the ball again. Little said about this, but that was a shocking decision by Macarthur to keep that guy on the field. Sooner they bring in new concussion rules the better.

I thought Hemed was a little bit of a donkey, just me? Hopefully he's just warming up.

I'd 'this' this, but it's still broken so I can't.

With Marinovic out injured, i think its a good thing we will have Sail in goal since Marinovic cost us the game against SFC and should have saved the shot vs Bulls FC. I think the 14 day quarantine didnt help with his low fitness and Sail should be in goal for the next few matches.

As for Hemed, he has done nothing so far and being a import striker this doesn't look good. I do predict him to score against the Jets though.

He was pretty good, the movement, his touches, we will have a lot of more fun with this guy.

Very much this this this point. Hemed showed the little touches kinda like Hooper. Unfortunate about his nose otherwise he'd have stayed on for a lot longer.

Last season I was very impatient about Hooper and when he came good he was a joy to watch. I am sure this is a very similar scenario, with Hemed needing some time (but hopefully nowhere near as long as Hooper).

Besides if we benched him as "not doing enough" his nose would really be out of joint.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

We played a friendly against Wollongong Wolves today and got smashed 4-0. Surely time for them to make the big step up to the A-League.

Worrying signs for the Nix? Considering that we have not won a game yet in the A-League and also lost to NPL opposition

LOL we played our best starting 11 and got cream pied! by a NPL team. Says a lot for the rest of the season.

I think that often, in these types of closed door friendlies, the team that plays at a higher level has been instructed to either try out a new tactic, or to focus significantly on a single aspect of the prevailing tactic (such as sitting deep and defending for as long as possible). Based on what I've seen so far from the Nix, in a fair fight, a 4-0 loss to an NPL team is out of the question. For all we know the entire starting 11 was changed at half time and the 4 goals were scored against the juniors.

Well, there aren't any juniors or reserves there, it's only the first team squad.

I think they mean Sutton, Sail, Waine, McGing, Muratovic etc playing.

That's still rather concerning though

Losing a friendly is obviously not ideal, but its less of a concern when you consider in our 2 meaningful games we've gone toe to toe with Sydney and outplayed the current top side.

If there is something good to come out of being smashed by Wolves is we could possibly pick up/sign some of there talent.

Let It Go
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation
And it looks like I'm the queen

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I've tried
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway

It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules…

Very much this. Usually a closed door friendly is for match fitness, formation or to try a new tactic.

I wouldn't read anything into the result as it wasn't a competitive game.

I have it on good authority that it was 3-0 in the first half, with the second half still mostly going Wollongong's way in terms of scoring opportunities. Phoenix 1st 11 played at least 60-65 minutes, Wollongong rotated heavily as well (including playing trialists)

so what, no biggie, you can hardly expect our guys to take a game they are playing just to stay sharp seriously. The result is immaterial

Yep believe what you want, however we have not won a game yet and got dicked by a NPL side whos 16y/o trialist scored against our starting 11.

I don't tend to read too much into friendlies, but I would rather not see a 4-0 pumping.  Hopefully it's just a case of experimenting with formations and tactics.
