Fingers crossed Fenton is fit for this one. I liked the Lewis/Devlin midfield combo, would be tempted to keep it for this game. Taylor is available but I think would be unlikely to be picked on 2 days training.
fingers crossed for Fenton - his run of bad luck with injuries has to end. Feel sorry for the kid. Agee that the Devlin/Lewis combo looked good. Wouldnt be unhappy if Rufer sat on the bench for a bit - although I cant see Ufuk doing that to his vice captain just yet.

Rufer was VC last year and struggled to get starts ahead of Matti/Devlin.
Brisbane are a very conservative team. Hardly concede and relay on counter attacks similar to us. Wenzel Hall can hurt us if given space. I think we will have a lot of the ball in this one, it will be interesting to see how we go about a team that likes to defend deep
I don't like to sound like Royz, but I've kind of accepted that we're not getting anything out of this year; all I hope is that the lads do their damndest, and maybe Uffie will come back next season rather than quitting in disgust.

Is Sail now our #1? He certainly looks good enough to be there. I wonder if he's tempted to try his luck overseas as he's still only 26 although he seems to have been warming the Nix bench for ages.

We already got something out of this year: - some new following among local Oz fans that will hopefully continue to follow us if Davila and Hemed stay on - a greater appreciation of Ollie Sail's skills - a growing possibility that we will not end up with a spoon. I also wouldn't like to sound like Royz, so I will say that I'd rather have us lose 4:3 than lose 1:0. We might have been edged out by WSW this time, but have already improved on the start of the season. I rate Talay higher than the previous 2-3 coaches, maybe even 4 last coaches. So who knows what else we'll get out of this season. I reckon it is too early to get despondent.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Nix to win 4-2, Roar are in a slump but DWH will score a brace before we smashed them in the 2nd half. Ngoy to get on the sheet late in 2nd half. Roar play 1970s longball so we need to watch out for that and play that negative style we used against the Jets.
I just checked the game match details and it says we are playing in New Castle? McDonald Jones stadium. Anyone know why that is?
Save on costs in a season where no home fans are bringing in the $$$ I assume. There's a Newcastle home game on straight afterwards as the second of the double header.
Coming into what is a pretty crucial time of the season, and while there have been disappointments I still remain encouraged by what I see in this team. Let's face it - we are based in Australia... Traditionally not a place where we've travelled with great success over the course of our existence. It can't be easy especially for the kiwi guys committing to, and being away for such an extended period of time. But even that taken into account we're not a million miles away in terms of performance on the pitch.
In the past couple of years at this point in the season we were in the middle of unbeaten runs that shot us right up the table. We're just going to have to start our run a little later this season.
Nix to take out their angst as a result of Monday nights game against WSW and whip Brisbane 3-0.
Just enjoying having football to watch. And there's the possibility that Lewis and Hemed may kick on and we'll become a monster team. And Louis Fenton will score more. It's always an inspiration to see him play. Devlin is great and scrappy. Rufer is hitting good passes. Ball, Taylor and Davila are themselves and magnificent. McGarry has snuck under the radar. Ben Waine has been a legend. And I'm sure there's much more I've missed. Loving the potential for this team and my only real worry is the season might finish and then not start again for ages. In Uffie we trust.

Ben Waine has been good... but we still need to put him in context. What other teams would he be starting in aside from ours?
Glad to see him developing.
More goals than Ibini, the same as Roy O'D, Bobo, Kamau and Castro. Plus at least one assist. (Edit: I remembered an assist, but maybe it was for a chalked off goal or missed chance?) He's had to start, sure, but he's done his job.
I wonder what marinovic is thinking these days? On another note, I love the Phoenix city podcast but it seems to have gone by the way side recently- fewer eps this season, are they stopping it? (I wouldn’t blame ‘em - it’s a lot of work for a free show, I just hope it continues!)

It's mostly down to our schedules. Also, all the games being away games means that we aren't all seeing every game anymore, which has made it harder to record podcasts about those games!

Mods, please fix Steph's avatar stat! Looks like a headless chicken, rather than a feisty brown shaver.

Yikes, good spotting, thank you. Might upgrade my profile pic to a buff orpington. No careless mod would dare lop the head off a buff orp 😎 Also, coyn!Mainland FC

Marinovic is probably thinking that George Soros pulled strings with Welnix to punish him for blowing the whistle on the #ScamdemicSteph1000

Taylor not featuring tomorrow. Tomer Hemed to start tomorrow while Louis Fenton will return to the starting Xl. Talay is going to continue with the Rufer and Lewis combo.
That is not enough to say it is definitely on... Most likely the social media posts are setup in advance and timed to be published. I'd say they will do a pitch inspection in a few hours... Based on the news and weather forecast for Newcastle I still think its unlikely to be on.

Lawrie McKinna (Jets CEO) posted a video to twitter an hour or so ago of the pitch saying he was confident the games will be going ahead. From what you can see in the video the pitch looks decent enough as of then
I know there is still a few hours away before kick off but the rain here hasn't stop and the coast is getting more rain then us. I take it McDonald Jones stadium must have good drainage if the game goes ahead.
