The through ball from Davila to Sotirio was sublime.  It was not a simple straight pass - the ball curved away from the Perth defender and landed, perfectly weighted, in front of Sotirio.

The clip RR posted above shows just how incredible the through ball was. Davila threaded a perfectly weighted 25m pass between 3 Glory players with only a metre or so to spare either side using his weaker foot.

Had a quiet first half, but was the catalyst for all three goals, and was unlucky not to have a goal himself after the debatable Sortirio handball. The best foreigner in the A League this season?

Definitely in the top 3 with Diamanti and Derbyshire

I really enjoyed the commentary tonight.  Even though Jamie is an Ex Glory player and would have been secretly cheering them on, he gave no sign of it.  Only error was mispronouncing Devilla's name.  I'd be happy to have then do every A-League game from Aus or NZ.
If you're going to criticise someone for mispronunciation, the least you could do is get the spelling correct. "Devilla"? - not even close.
And it is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable -  Dávila.

I saw Ridenton appear in the after match background. Thank goodness Talay has not let him any where the playing field for quite some time

Good good! According to the forum last week Louis was cack and Sotirio couldn't finish a sandwich, so lets turn our magic on Ridenton!

Yep Sotirio and Fenton both are mixed bags, they have  good and bad games . Ridenton is just bad. Full credit to  Talay for keeping him away.

not entirely sure why we signed him - I dont think he's worth playing but we could have used a developing midfielder instead given the limited minutes he's had.

We signed him because he’s obviously got A League experience, remember when he left the club, he left as the U23 Player of the Year, so there’s a player in there somewhere.

He is also Australian based and was there the whole of lockdown last year so was easy to integrate him in, whereas bringing, say, an academy kid would mean relocating them across to another country with no guarantee of any playing time at all. Any kids that would have been brought in would not be able to play for the reserves, which is probably better for them than just training with the first team. Under normal circumstances it could have been quite likely someone like Ben Old would train with the first team and push for spots, but in this case it makes more sense to leave them in Wellington.

Ridenton knows how to mark a player and manage a game when we're a goal up. Something we've been poor at at key points fairly recently. Came in when we had no players and wouldn't be on a lot of coin.
And sure- clearly our 4th best midfielder at the moment and lucky to pick up the contract, but he's been a good servant to the club when there was no academy and not much in the way of youth support or pathways.

Yes Under 23 player of the year chosen by that nut job Coach we had at the time who was leaving Singh on the bench when it was obvious to most that Singh was an outstanding talent who could more than match it at A League level

He was also leading the A-League on quite a few metrics that seasons and was rated one of the more effective midfielders. Good enough to pick up foreign spots in two other clubs is good enough for a squad player for us.

not sure being picked as a foreign player for the Jets or Roar speaks to your quality.

The season the Jets signed him they'd just finished runner up in the comp so had more quality over a season than we ever had.

The Nut job Coach had him taking the free kicks and corners and these gave him brownie points such as balls into the box, creating chances etc.
