Bet there would have been an uproar had one of our players got a 2nd yellow for that. Shocking decision.

its a harsh call, but you make contact with the guys head especially from behind then player safety has to come into play.

aaaaaand theres the red!

was always coming and when you lead with the elbow you got no defence.
It might be slightly soft, but when your tactic is to cynically foul every time the opposition gets the ball, and you rack up cheap yellows, you leave yourself open for a soft red.  WU lucky not to have more than half their team sitting on yellows right now.

absolutely, but with the constant fouling from WU it was always going to come

Some of those earlier tackles Uskok and then Durantee were borderline red I though. Both connected with studs up. Maybe justice.
Uskok is a red card waiting to happen.
They were studs up too. Surprised they didn't give it a second look.

Durante's was definitely a red.  Studs up.

It's been a good half. I am mildly concerned that we're tied at 1-1 when they've literally only had 2 chances. We had more and I have to say their last line of defense have been very effective.
They will bring in Berisha so all players already on a yellow must be very careful. Uffie make subs if need be, please. They still have enough quality to get something out of this. We must be patient and ruthless once we get in frojt of goal.

Alex King listed as the Ref tonight.
Good. On Friday someone will be on here blaming him for child poverty and Covid19.
Blame the referee - last refuge of the inadequate.

What's your thoughts now on the officialing today?

And they swarm the ref. No class.

Better not be any bs make up calls.

Diamanti is a dog for going off like that. Surprised he didn't at least get a card, every third word in his rant was swearing.

What a knob ✊💦

Very much this. It was a borderline yellow card for me. Rudan is right, you do need your arms out to jump. But you are also responsible for where those arms land. And Waine certainly copped one in the chops. Also, as others have said, if your strategy is to foul each time the opposition has the ball, you can't be too surprised if you get a soft yellow here and there

You obviously don't know anything about Tasmania.   AFL country.

So they go all the way to Tasmania to play infront of about twenty people?

It was soft to my eye, unless specific instructions are given by the VAR to protect younger guys who themselves are "clean" players like Waine (meaning, do not give back as much as they cop).  Having said that, it was as much a soft yellow against Hamill as it was against Taylor.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

If we can get an early goal. Then they can't just sit back and defend.

Yup spot on.  Second yellow was a touch soft but they should have had so many more yellows.

They really are an unlikeable lot.

Rudan/Berisha/Majok are 3 of the most unlikeable guys in the A-League... Diamanti/Durante are always up in the refs face screaming or touching him even if they just kicked someone and it was a clear foul.

I really hope we win.

Colin Hendry says the red was an absolute shocker. Correct. Case closed.

"Such a free flowing encounter, and now Western might change their strategy" what, they are going to cynically foul us some more to slow us down?

Nah. They will be trying to do anything possible to reduce us to ten men too.

We should be scared to touch them in the box or any stupid fouls, can see this as one of those games where the ref trys to 'even it up' after all the complaining from WU.

We used the same word within 5 seconds of each other 😂
I hope we make them pay with this free kick!

The handwringing in this thread is amazing.

I am just waiting for the "won't somebody think of the children"

its something we've talked about before but how often does our key player end up with the most fouls against him in the league, almost every season our key man gets hacked at by all opposition sides.

Their strategy seems to be to deliberately kick our best player out of the game. Cry me a river if they got 1 soft yellow card out of many awful challenges.
