Why the fudge are we talking about thanking Rudan? Boo him or don't boo him I don't really care, but our focus here should be thanking Wollongong for having us and actually showing up despite us being a foreign team. Are there any talks for a banner or something thanking them yet?
alleged being the key word, look whatever Rudan did/did not do outside of football is none of my business. Much like how most of us ignored Terry's business dealings when he brought the nix to live. We cheered him like a hero till the very last day of his ownership.
I love the Rudan & WU narrative (Stalking, USB's, WU Poaching the coach, Poaching Players, Making up fake accounts to abuse Phoenix supporters), it has given us the chance for an actual Rival in the aleague rather than all the made up Distance Derbies (grrrr) etc. coupled with the colors and logo etc. gives us the snakes. For me football is a competitive sport and rivalries are a part of that, I'm not saying lets go start riots but some booing and banter is great. If you want to think its all Carebears and we should sing songs and be happy all the time, that's great as well but a suggestion was made and seems to have been majority rejected so stop trying to argue it. If you want to sing Rudan a song go for it. For those that want to Boo him go for it, but lets stop having a go at each other for different approaches. Its all part of the sport we love.
ITT a lot of people trying to pour cold water on our club's first real rivalry.
In a sense it doesn't matter whether Creepy Rudie has a soft spot for us or what. We boo him and we boo the Snakes. Grrrrrivals.
Exactly. The fact we have a real reason to have a rivalry when we don't have a cross-town team to boo, is the best thing about WU. When they formed they stole our coach, our captain and our keeper, and the shenanigins around the ultimately true rumours of Rudan leaving to WU basically derailed our best ever season. Regardless of what happens with Rudan or the other WU players, they should always and forever be grrrrrrrivals.

Once the pantomime villain moves on from WU, they will just be some A League team from suburban Melbourne. Enjoy the rivalry while it lasts.
Not until Auckland has a team, with a large number of travelling fans will there be a true long lasting enemy.

"Enemy"? Somewhat hyperbolic. I don't have enemies in football, I have rivals. Words matter; they're powerful and should be used judiciously.
Not going to lie, as an Argentinian, I laugh when I see is nix fans consider another team a “rival” and “enemy” because when that rival team have visiting fans we share beer with them and shout a few things at opposition coach. I say let’s fly a jet plane over their hotel, egg their bus, cause them chaos. Love that kiwi hospitality 🥰🥰🥰

If my careless (somewhat sarcastic) use of the word enemy, qualifies as Auckland hate speech and leads to brigades of bloodthirsty rabid Wellingtonians parachuting into NZ's biggest city and garroting smug Ponsonby types harmlessly munching on their bruschetta en masse - I apologise.

JAFA here. Most of us hate the Ponsonby gentrification millionaires as much as you do. Carry on.

Football supporters, whether they call themselves "tifosi", "kibice" or "hinchada", have "hyperbolic" as their middle name, by default. I agree there is a huge gap between booing and hating, and nobody in their right mind should get worked up to a hate level, regardless of what Rudan thinks or represents. I've had bosses that caused me more grief than Rudan ever did, and that's just life.
I 100% support grrrivalry and booing the Snakes. On the other hand; remember a few years ago we all had a good laugh at supporters of the NQ Furries pretending to be the Bash Street Hooligans, and getting all chimps-pounding-their-chests about someone in a Smurfs shirt daring to set foot in their "manor".
We must 100% carry on being friendly and welcoming to opposition supporters, even those of the Snakes, who make the effort to cross the Tasman to support their team full of traitors coached by a demented stalker.
One of my best memories of the YF was at a Penrose pub, commiserating with WSW fans about the mere existence of Appiah.

One of my best memories of the YF was sharing a beer with CCM supporters at half-time of the game in Christchurch and finding out that we have friends in common in Gosford.
Burgess is gone. Kurto looks soon to leave. And Durante surely to retire, to the back office.
Next season only the head villain will likely remain, come match day.

They also have a bunch of guys who while never playing for the Phoenix are (imo) very unlikeable. Berisha, Diamanti and Uskok are a few that spring to mind.
Looking at a lot of these comments I suggest that some should grow up.
32k for a finals game in Wellington but reg season record goes to Auckland at over 25k, reg season for Wellington tops of at around 14-15k but if i am wrong prove it.
Anyone got pax? Fever Zone is filling in a bit already. Looks like the section on half way is selling well too. We are looking at doing some kind of scaled down pub crawl. Doesn't look like it will be a full 12 pubs because the weather will be dubious, lots will have their own game to do too, and it's an early kick off.
Why don’t they say in the press releases about sales how many sales there have been?
Because 'on track for our biggest Wellington crowd in a decade' and 'more sales in a four-day period than ever before' sound cooler than 'we've sold 5000 tickets'.
