Disagree, Sotirio is 3 times more effective than Appiah, a goal every seven games cf a goal every 21 games.

Agree with Barrie, the average per game is in favour of Sotirio (0.14 goals per game for Sotirio vs 0.05 goals per game for Appiah).
It would be great to see a distribution table or graph as to when the goals where scored (years ago, or recently), if there were peaks or troughs.  If one of them scored mostly in a debut year while the other in their most recent season that would be also more predictive if they are rising or waning.

Season 15/16 16/17 17/18 18/19 19/20
Sotirio 1 3 3 3 4
Appiah 0 2 0 1 1

Sotirio has been very consistent in terms of goal scoring a season, though his playing minutes fluctuates significantly. In 17/18 those three goals were scored in only 409 minutes, his 4 goals for the Nix in 19/20 he played 1344 minutes. That probably shows he's most effective and actually a pretty good option, coming on late off the bench against tired defenses. The issue that Ufuk appears to be grappling with is that the Nix are basically devoid of pace apart from Sotorio, so if he wants to play a little deeper against counter-attacking teams and have someone run into the additional space in the attacking third there aren't any other options. Without pace (which every other team seems to have plenty of) the Nix seem a little one-dimensional.

Analysis spot on as always :D

absolutely love a robbery. Christ we didn’t deserve that but thank fudge for that first win. Didn’t think it was happening today, that’s for sure! What a turgid second half.

Maybe playing like that is the key to beating SFC?

Glad to get the win but actually feel less positive about the season than after our last loss.  Though of course CCM are near the top. Hopefully can build on the win and play better next week.

our luck had to change at some point, last week we dominated and lost, this week we started strong and managed to find a way to steal the win. CCM for all their territory and shots couldnt score the winner. We got one decent ball and a nice touch form Sotiorio (it happens on occasion) - that's football, we should celebrate, even though we struggled we won.

we get goals essentially from Ball, Hemed, Davila and Sotirio. Anything else a bonus. We set up four opportunities after the goal in the first half- two fell to Davila, one to Devlin and one to Lewis. We had one free shot in their penalty area- which fell to Devlin. We need to get our main goal scorers into goal scoring positions.

We paly CCM again in two weeks. Gonna be very interesting to see how both coaches react to this game.

With more points from our first four games than last season, I'm now expecting us to win the whole thing this year.

In all seriousness, I think we look good for large stretches, but haven't been able to capitalise on our dominance. When Piscopo gets his fitness back and the team fully gels, I think we'll have streaks of several wins in a row a couple of times this season.

Good to see Sotirio score. I'm not a fan of him starting, but he's very useful off the bench. Let's hope it stays that way!

Awful game to watch, and almost definitely didn't deserve that, but on the balance of things I'd say our luck has evened out for the four games so far

We still deserve some more good luck for the Rufer send off two games back. Shocking when they admit they made a mistake but still gave the lad a 1 game rest. Absolutely shocking.

Exactly and last night, the jets know how we felt against them. They were all over their opposition and still lost!.

Two quality goals.
Sotirio at his best with a great finish, and his worst, being unable to hold onto the ball twice when we are trying to run the clock down.
Wondering how CCM managed to wrestle the midfield off us completely in the second half?

I reckon in them last minutes when Sotirio was on for goal he should have passed it instead of stopping and losing it as we had 2 players free to shot on goal.

Seems like we are lacking a bit of leadership in defence and on the field generally. No disrespect to Davilla, but can Steven Taylor please come back when the Indian SL finishes in March.

Watched in my local with the sound off, but wondering did Stajcic change tactics at HT?

Disappointing that Hemed is still not yet looking a real goal threat, but as with Hooper last season some patience is hopefully all that's needed. But he was shagged for the last 10 minutes or so, and surprised Talay didn't bring on Waine to race around after Adam Sandler had scored.

I thought Lewis was pretty good in the first half, with some nice touches.

Haven't seen any non Nix A League games, but CCM weren't that flash, so if they can be top of the table after 4-5 games, maybe there is going to be an overall drop off in the quality of the league this season like many forecast.

Super Sub Sotirio!

Not a convincing win, but a confidence booster going into the game against Sydney. Taylor's leadership at the back sorely missed today. Hemed a frustrated figure once again, having to drop deep to receive the ball most of the time. The service to him has been awful!

Time to push Hudson-Wihongi into starting Xl in place of Laws?

The biggest change in the second half was the consistant higher press from CCM.  We hated it.  Also, hats off to the old mad viillian Matt Simon, he was really good.

Not sure about any major tactics change by CCM.  Overall they continued to play their fast game with quick, largely error-free passing and did not make as many backpasses in midfield as we did. In the final fifteen minutes our possession dropped to something tragic and they looked consistently like a better team.  And yet as Talay said, with CCM camped in our half, bringing Sotirio on was the right decision, but even with the sublime pass from Rufer there was still a bit of luck involved.

So - thanks to everyone for keeping their fingers crossed - it worked.

Muratovic continues to disappoint and is Laws that slow or the opposition attackers that quick?
