They play similar to WSW (3-4-1-2). If we play the way we played against WSW and make the most of our chances, we should be good for a win.

you mean, leave Hemed and Ball out?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

People been writing off Hemed too quickly. He hasn't been great, but he also hasn't had great service. I like Waine, but not sure he is A-league ready yet. We have a good enough team (assuming a fully-fit team) to be in the top 6 IMO, just need a bit of luck to get out of this slump.

I expect Hemed to be on the bench, with Ball starting for Waine.

Lewis to start ahead of Muratovic?

I agree. Don't really think Waine or Muratovic took there opportunities last few games. Both pretty poor against a young MV backine. Newcastle back two are pretty match savvy.

My main concern is confidence levels. If things don't go our way I can see heads dropping pretty quick.

3-0 Jets, There at home - have a striker that scores - tall timber in the backline. Cant see anything changing here.

I meant our playing style. Bally obviously starting Xl, while Talay confirmed that Hemed will most likely be off the bench.

I mean they did play an epic game a couple of days earlier!

I couldn't watch the Melbourne game, but feel that Muratovic and Fenton provided wide pace that Lewis and Ball lack a bit. Lewis centrally provided left footed distribution from deeper with Laws out. Think that's something missing from our previous starting 11- pace out wide.

Also I know we don't want to hear it, but McGarry has made more defensive errors than Cacace would have.

McGarry has been quiet in the past few games. He needs to step up.

I can't help but think how good we would have been this season if we'd kept hold of Taylor, Steinmann and Hooper...

Can anyone confirm the kick off time? It sounds pretty late to start at 8.10pm in Newcastle on a Sunday night? I think it's 8.10NZT so 6.10pm Newcastle time... But hearing it from an official source would be great

Club like Dortmund, Sevilla and Benfica deal with their best players leaving most summers, and despite this still manage to succeed (generally). "If only, if only, me Aunty had bollocks". (David Brent)

rest rufer. start lewis alongside devlin. Use mcgarry more on attack = massive success.

Permalink Permalink

Rufer can't shoot, but generally has played well as we have actually dominated the middle, just not the two ends of the pitch.

Devlin wins all the ball, but Rufer is the better passer/distributor of it.

Least active pre-match thread ever? Hopefully the lads are a bit more enthusiastic.

Although not sure if I am comfortable with line-up changes. We shall see.

I know, I know, its serious!
