There's something funny going on with Pavlovic if you hadn't already heard. He's been no where near the Nix all pre-season and is now either 'injured' or 'unavailable' according to most articles surrounding team selection. He was playing in Aus not long ago, I don't think he's injured.

I would say no longer required but still on our books? Would like to hear more from the club about it.

Would much rather Boyd or Watson given a go anyway. Particularly because both have been working hard for a spot while Pavlovic is elsewhere. That and young Kiwi>young Aussie obviously.

I too would like to know more about this

I wouldn't take that bet.  I think he's unfairly maligned amongst some in our supporter base.  He was our leading scorer that season and wasn't as crap as some consider him.

Is there a possibility that NZF will come to the party and wipe the stand down period?

You can bet they will be putting in a request. If it's happened before for unique situations like this one then I can't see why they wouldn't consider it. After all the Nix are a big part of that national team.

Fuck this stupid game

It's not an NZF call.  It's FIFA rules about switching from professional to amateur football.

So has it happened before? I'm sure I remember someone having their 30 day stand down wiped?

I think they found a loophole that meant if you didn't take the pitch you were fine.  That's why Clapham never came on against Sydney.

Agreed. Man of the match at the weekend and deserved it.

Who will partner Waffles up front? Boyd has played a lot of the pre-season, so would think that will put him ahead of Clarke. Only saw Clarke for a few minutes on Sat, but he looked really quick.

I'd rather have the subject conveniently avoided for the rest of the season, unless we run out of other options.

Tim brown must have given pav that picture of Ricki in a compromising position with a donkey (rumoured to be D-Mac),this got him the bizarre two year contract extension, and the ability to go do whatever he wants (mostly piss away his money at the TAB)

So according to Wikipedia Pav has been on loan to Sydney United, the Croatian team whose fans got in a brawl with WSW fans.

They came second in NSW Premier league, here is Pav with an assist:

Yes, but loan finished October 1 and still no sign.  Personally, i'm quite happy for him to stay over in Sydney.

He got a double in a game against Newcastle. Which briefly reignited hopes that he might improve...

I agree, he was decent for us.  He's just so slow, in some games he gets away with it and in others it looks terrible

Look at the makeup of our squad, there are at least 4 forwards ahead of him in the striker role and he'll clearly never play for the club again no matter what Ricki says about him being on his way back.  This is where we need Sam Worthington to earn his money and actually do some reporting

12 is a bit harsh
My starting eleven has an average age of 25.45 years.....Young for Nix maybe not so young for the league ??

I think

Lyndsey, box, dura, Rowe

Smiff, moose, lia,

Iffy, waffle, Fenton

Likely subs - Boyd, panamaniac

Judging that on them setting up at training

Interesting, adding Lia into the midfield should stop us getting over run in the centre of the park. But I am surprised that we are changing from the 4-1-3-2 that we have played all pre-season. I guess it will be just for this game, to fill in the holes better.

If Lia is back will they not put him at RB and keep Lyndsey in the midfield? Or are they still too mentally scarred by Lia's attempts at RB last year?

All the talk is Lindsay at Right Back.  Lia is proven in midfield so particularly if he has fitness issues better to put him where he's comfortable.

Have heard that RH wants to play more of a 4231 away from home to bulk up the mids which makes sense and this lineup from Feverish actually does work to our strengths for this game. Essentially you drop a striker and play an extra guy next to manny. I like it

Can't say I'm optimistic about this one. Unsettled and inexperienced back four has me a little worried. However I am very eager to see these young players get a run and see how they go.

I think we wll be a little disorganized and leaky defensively but we still have a bit of attacking class in Ifill and Stein as well as a bunch of young guns looking to make an impression and Muscat and Smith will still be sitting solid in midfield.

I reckon we'll nab a draw and be fairly satisfied with ourselves.

which is why i dont see why we dont leave paston or moss and bertos and lochhead with the phoenix. keep the back four minus siggy and everything else stays the same apart from boyd for brockie. seems crazy to me that either paston or moss are going to sit on the bench for two internationals and i think hogg for lochhead is tit for tat. howieson for bertos. its not like bertos is settling the world alight on the flank internationally anymore

Ricki has selected a good experienced squad that did well in the last WCQ games, why should he change it? If Paston gets injured, as he did at the OFC Nations Cup, I would much rather have Moss than Gleeson (though was impressed with O'Keeffe at Olympics).

I think he has kept his Phoenix hat on ever so slightly when selecting the All Whites squad with Boxall not being selected even though he was in the All Whites squad for the last two WCQ games. I would imagine that along with Sigmund; Vicelich and Keat are considered cover for CD.

If Lia comes in, hopefully he plays as well as he did against Heart as last season in Morwell.

Ricki has already named the AW squad so it isn't going to change.  He was under pressure to name the strongest squad possible and he has.

As for Pantelis and/or Downey.  We'd have to pay them if they left anyway as part of the cap and their contract.  Nothing to be gained from chopping anyone except squad spae which we don't need to free up anyway.

oh i get that it's not going to change but still its as simple as leaving bertos and lochhead and one of either Paston or Moss with the Phoenix rather than blooding all these youth guys at once. anyway

A good chance for Luke and Cameron to put pressure on Bertos and Lochhead. If they can put in a good performance it will be interesting.

Possibly the best time to see where our youngsters are at.  Seniors are going to have to step up even more.  I'd be happy with a draw then a heavy loss that sees us tumble down the table.  Jam tards will be rubbing their hands together thinking it's going to be an easy 3 points for them.

What's the best D-Mac will score against us?

I don't expect you to believe it, but he was running around the field in the derby

edit: note others have picked it up too. Well I'll just say he looked much better for the Heart than he ever looked for us.

shouldn't we be emulating Tottenham at Old Trafford with our attacking options and trying to win games away from home? Or at least target some to try and attack in?

I like the 4-3-3 formation more, particularly with who is available. I think the team will be surprisingly competitive and should definitely be playing for the win rather than just a draw. It's a great opportunity for the young guys, hopefully they view it as one and are in the right frame of mind. Looking forward to it.

Looking forward to the game, if not for anything other than seeeing the young guys get a decent run in. Hopefully we'' surprise a few poeple and snatch a point.

Its a shame that if someone like Rowe has a blinder, not matter what he'll be dropped due to the contractual issues. I imagine that would be quite disheartning.

Dmac scores goals, not pretty one, but his ratio isn't too bad... and at the end of the day that is all that matters.

i would think all the pressure will be on the heart .They are facing almost a B nix team ( more like an A- ) so pressure on for them to get goals and take all three points. Personally i hope we still smash em .

Would be good to see what the odds will be for this one especially after last weeks game

Odds firmly in favor of the Heart. Might throw down a fiddy for a draw at $3.50 though, extremely likely result
